Hi Gayna. When my cow was fresh I made quite a lot of butter. I would soak my empty wooden molds in water then freeze them. I never dusted with flour of any sort. Fill the molds and place them back into the over. To get the butter out I tapped or even beat them on the counter inside down. I didn’t use a tool. Just tap hard. I encourage you to try again. I’ve got a funny story re poo picking up! A few weeks ago on the stile we cross on one of our walks was a bag of poo! I sounded off about stupid people leaving it and not binning it when a lady came round the corner of the field and picked it up saying she leaves it rather than carry it round the field with her as she returns back the same way and bins it on her way home! My face went a bit red! Love WW xx

Oh that’s awkward 😬 poor you, I can imagine you felt bad but They all say that and how many times do they forget? Fancy leaving it on a stile where people have to climb and could slip. They say it’s better to flick it in a bush rather than bagging and abandoning but I just can’t do that 🤪

I always find it frustrating when people go to the trouble of picking up their dog's poo then leave the bag. Thanks for picking it up and getting rid of it, that's what I would do too 🙂. I've never been able to pop my ears, I used to get terrible pain when flying including on my forehead. I suffer from chronic sinus, there are ear plugs you can get at the airport that equalise the pressure in your ears, but I regularly use Dymista nasal spray and it's the best one I've ever used. Fingers crossed your ears will be okay by the time you fly.

Not poo related (see earlier comment) …… what about putting cling film across the mould and then pressing the butter in so that the cling film will stretch and shape with the butter as you press it in? Karen x

I sympathise about ears and flying. On my last flight, the first in ten years, my ear drum actually ripped! Tne pain was excrutiating for 4 weeks and it took ages to heal. Dont want that happening again

I suspected those butter molds would not work but was hoping I was wrong. Timmy might be old but he still looks healthy. After the holidays I am going to cast on that sweater you are wearing. I purchased the pattern ages ago. Safe travels.

I worked for an ENT group, and the doctors recommended using a decongestant nasal spray about 30 minutes before your flight. It works quite well for my husband and my daughter, who have had lots of problems equalizing the pressure in their ears.

The plastic cups need to have very hot water and a paper towel in them to stop the water from running out. A flight attendant helped me once by doing this for me when I was in very bad pain with my ears. Good luck! It worked for me and nobody batted an eye.

I know that you’re not keen on cling film, but you could have lined the mould with that first. Perhaps that might have worked? Great idea though Gayna. Xxx

Gayna, I don’t know why but watching you do your chores inspires me to do mine….one question…I know you’ve said you have hard water, so do I and the inside of my dishwasher is stainless steel. It looked like yours is stainless too. Our water stains the inside door of the dishwasher an orange color. I’ve tried everything to get it clean, bleach, vinegar, dishwasher cleaning tablets, I’ve used lots of elbow grease but nothing works. How do you get yours so clean? You Toby & Ted were very funny! Safe travels ✈️. Also, I wish the butter had come out!

Hmmmm sounds like your water is even harder than ours. Have you tried putting half a pint of vinegar in there and running the hottest wash and then do the same with a cup of bicarb? I think citric acid can help too. Good luck!!!

My hubby suffers from glue ear and has had it for for years, a Doctor recommended a sea salt nasal spray, and it worked brilliantly. You can buy it from the chemist, my family always use it when we’re stuffed up x

I have never been able to equalize my ears, so no scuba diving for me (I was never going to do that anyway). And now anytime I lie on my right ear or put pressure on it, it plugs right up. 💁🏼

I do have quite a bit of physical energy compared to most! It’s my super power 😅 It the Treelights Junper by Jennifer Steingass and it a three strand colour work pattern. I wouldn’t say it was beginner friendly unless you have done some colour work and are happy doing shaping and a variety of increases. But give it a go! You never know what you can achieve till you try.
