Kate, as a knitter who loves to have joy knitting AND wearing what I knit, I’ll say it… rip it out, roll them up and finish opening and enjoying each day’s color. Then organize in a fade or color combo… maybe leave a few out even, but you have the right idea to wait. 😅❤👍 Thanks so much for your time and posting each day!

If you don’t love the shawl just rip it out keep opening each day through advent then wait until 25th put the colours in an order you do like and start knitting on 1 January, knit one stripe a day so that at the end of Jan you will have a shawl that you do love and will wear.

If it’s the bright blue that’s bugging you maybe rip back til you can omit that one and then see how you feel.

One thing drives my decisions regarding the 2 years of knitting I’ve done and that it has to give joy. If not for any reason then I frog it no matter how far I’ve done. I just frogged 2 sweaters and a shawl for that reason. I’m knitting a cardi in different colours and pattern and I love it. The rest of yarn will be reskeined an wait for a joy filled project.

Kate, I see the solution very simply. I paid $155 for my yarn advent, and while it is super lovely, the color order that I knit my project in will be my decision. 😊 Love your podcasts and your gentle spirit. Your projects inspire me to keep knitting. Cynthia, from Southern Maryland

I love your shawl! It reminds me of the scrappy quilts I make and gift to chemo patients. Each one is special and unique and the scrappiness becomes part of its story, just like your wrap. I say continue on its order (which will surely satisfy the “rule keeper” in you) and you will have your own story to share with all for years to come. May your hesitancy be replaced with pure joy as you add in each new beautiful color. I think it is lovely just as it is. ❤

I think the lighter colors give your eyes a bit of color pop between the darker bands. It's a beautiful shawl. I love the green socks from Molly!

Lovely knitting Kate! I'm multi-crafting at the moment: knitting, crocheting, cross stitch... whichever fits the mood of the moment. I really hope the Wallace and Gromit movie comes to Canada as well. 🤩

I still remember your lovely trip up to Whitehead and your yarn festival. We are coming home to work in May and have taken a cottage at the Lighthouse to celebrate my birthday. It looks amazing and I love seeing your drives round NI

I feel the same way as you about following the "rules." Maybe just continue on so you have the feeling of satisfaction and if you don't love it, give it to someone who would.

I would wait and reorganize the colors the way you wish.

Hi Kate I always love your vlogmas, it's so calm and cosy 😊 We always have the Christmas Radio Times too but last year we found it disappointing so may have to find something else this year!! Also, big Wallace and Gromit fans here, can't wait to see the new one !!xx
@elizabethl-m6979Ай бұрын
I'm really enjoying spending Vlogmas with you, as usual! I think the recent bright blue addition is the issue with your beautiul shawl. I think removing it might make all the difference.

Your Wallace and Grommit story had me chuckling :). I also enjoy eating the last uncut/too small cookie blob ;)

I want to reach through the screen for your shortbread cookies - they look delicious! I began buying The Cozy Knitter advent skeins to know I would have one advent project I could count on each day. I save others, like Molly’s 24 minis advent to choose a perfect project when I want a daily mini knit during another winter month. I love how your wrap is evolving, but I could also imagine it as an Anthology Throw beginning with the darkest colors and radiating out to the lighter ones if you decide to open them all and rearrange them. Looking forward to seeing what they want to become!

I'm looking forward to making some shortbread .thanks for another lovely recipe. The shawl is a lovely pattern but I think I would wait until you have unwrapped all the colours.

Kate you have given me lots of Christmas inspo! I have made the little buns, and they were a big hit here. I plan to make the shortbread too. I like your idea to wait a few days to see how the colours of the Circus Tonic Advent go before ripping it all out. The colours are lovely on their own, but not jelling together, I feel. Looking forward to tomorrow...

I’m with you about the wrap, lovely pattern but not sure about the colour order! Next year I’m going to have everything ready by the end of November then I can really enjoy advent 🎄🎅🏻x

I would pull out the colours you have done, then take a look at all the colours then decide on the way you want to use them.
@carolgehrig5671Ай бұрын
Hi Kate. I agree with your dilemma...I would be exactly the same. I like the solution you have come up with the wrap. If there are colours you don't like you could rip it back, leave them out then add a few of your own colours(I'm sure you would have some that would work) . As you said it isn't that big of a deal and it would be lovely to make something you love and will love to wear. All the best. xxx

I understand your dilemma. I would rib back and maybe use another pattern and re-arrange the colours. Maybe use a contrast colour to tie everything in. It is such a beautiful yarn! 😊

I’m opening my advents and keeping them in order but waiting to knit mine later mostly because I dislocated a finger and can’t knit but looking at what I have I may start from the last skein to first. But I have an excuse. Lol
@jeaniemaher1681Ай бұрын
I think the wrap is looking fine. Maybe if you remove that one bright blue and then continue on? Once wrapped around your neck it's going to look beautiful, but, YOU have to like it:)
@annahutchens5446Ай бұрын
I think, if I was knitting the advent shawl, (which I just did buy the pattern for minis I already have after I saw you knitting it up), I would do as you are considering and not knit anymore until you see a few more of the colors. I think there are about 3 colors already revealed that seem a little off to me in this color scheme. I also wonder how it might look if you used a cream or oatmeal tweedy colored section between each color to help the minis stand out on their own a little more. I feel it has a bit of a muddy look just running them so close together since there is not a huge color contrast between some of them. Just a thought…🙂🧶

Aww Kate I loved this. We are another radio times family. I’m also loving Kirsties handmade Christmas. I learn so much from your podcasts I didn’t know we had a bath and bodywork’s I guess that’s what you get when you never cross the Lagan I really like the wrap pattern and it would be lovely in a tonal or proper fade. Like others I find the bright blue throws it off. I got my first ever self striping sock only it’s knitting more like a fade. It’s still pretty just not what I thought it was I will get another self striping from the dyer later in the year. Enjoy tv planning. I’ll definitely be highlighting The dog house at Christmas on channel four.

If there's no joy Kate rip it out and then see what other colours come. Beautiful pattern but knit it with something else. As I'm in N.Ireland what shop we're you in. I haven't seen a lot of Christmas items . They were lovely and I'm looking a new cushion. Hopefully tomorrow's colour will be better. Cu then. 🥰

I think I would rearrange some of the colors…however I also like staying in order too. It is a dilemma!!! But boy that light blue just doesn’t fit there!!
@ALifeWithWoolАй бұрын
One reason I have yet do purchase an advent is the colors I see that everyone shares, and for me I don’t like them. The only one that I see year after year that I love is the one by The Knotty Fiber Co, these are my kind of colors. If you’re not in love with the sequence of colors, I would stop or frog it. You can stop where you’re at and decide what you want to do after you open all the packets up. Love your socks!

Oh Kate I do so knownWHAT you mean about your shawl - I’m a blues woman myself, but all blues do not do-exist naturally! I can see the places which probably make you feel uncomfortable because they make me feel it too. I wouldn’t frog it just yet, but if it were me I’d stop knitting on it and just see where she’s going with the rest of the advents; You may suddenly find what she’s aiming for, colour wise. Or you may thing nope, it’s coming out and I’m going do something else with the complete set. No point soldiering on of in your heart of hearts you aren’t happy with it. Love your Wallace and Grommit story! x

worst case, you can always frog and start it again the way you like.
