VO Sound vs Radio Sound. How Similar are the Lauten Clarion and Neumann BCM-104?

The 104 is great, but for me it's the Clarion all day long . It just has this pleasing brain-tickling sound. Great comparison!

Listening on a different set of headphones now, and I do think they still have a somewhat similar sound but I'm definitely hearing more of that pronounce low end on this in headphones when you're switching over to the 104 so yeah it definitely does have more of that broadcast sound. I usually boost the are frequencies by about 3 decibels on that 104, I lower a couple of the low-end frequencies by buy one or two decibels and of course run that high pass filter and I think that really cleans up the the sound on the 104. They both sound good but that Clarion does sound awesome and thanks for doing the review, definitely appreciate it, it was quite interesting to hear the difference

Yeah man, that's one of the great things about the 104. It really takes EQ well, and so much of that is a function of how great the capsule in the 104 is.

@@MarkYoshimotoNemcoff I returned the 208 I purchased and got a clarion. I’ll be giving it a try soon on some of my DJ podcast shows. Currently using the MT 48 with a u87, looking forward to seeing how the clarion cuts through the music bed and delivers more clarity. Sweetwater’s 48 month 0% financing makes this mic very affordable.

The clarion does sound more controlled in the low end and quite a bit more detailed in the high. the clarion sounds a bit more natural and clear . i do hear some similarities between the two almost like the same mic with a different EQ (not sure how else to put it) but........The clarion comes out on top here, it sounds overall more natural and clear but somewhat similar at the same time.

Pretty sure the RE20 and SM7B are dynamic mics right? Love the comparison, honestly even listening on AirPods Pro they’re pretty similar. Can definitely tell the difference side by side, don’t know if I would in isolation though. I can definitely see it as a more high end dynamic mic sound. The Clarion sound crisp clean and clear.

Thanks! Yes, they are dynamics that are often referred to as broadcast standards and get a lot of love for that larger than life low end, but as dynamics, lack the detail of a condenser.

Hi, I would like to ask you question about microphones. I have watched most of your videos about products of many microphone brands, except Gefell which is a real legend. Please, test gefell m930, m930ts, um900 (legend) or others for voice over if you have a chance. Cheers...

Thank you, but I can’t test what I don’t have. I did have a m930 a few years back and didn’t love it enough to keep it, but I’d love to try one again at some point.
