After having seen a ton of vocal coaches react to Dimash, this guy is the first one I've seen that seamlessly steps into the Dimash realm and actually replicates some of the tones and pitches he does. Of course it had to be a good old rock'n'roll looking dude to be able to pull it off ;)

Actually, Ken Tampling was the lead singer and guitar player of a famous Christian rock band formed in the 80s (more specifically, gram metal rock) that's why his vocal range. Most of rock singers have spectacular voices, reaching super high notes as well as low notes, falsetto, etc. I'm not much knowledgeable in music or vocals, but most of my knowledge comes from watching Ken.

He was offered a position with the 5th largest opera house in the world and turned them down. He said he wanted to have fun with music and his voice. Opera, popera, folk, pop, rap, traditional...he puts everything into the mix. How he can go high to low and do all these techniques in them is fantastic. He knows how to use everything he has in this wonderful instrument.

The story behind this song is very interesting: The band that accompanies Dimash is the same one that composed the song, without the singer who died after a heart attack! The band is also from Kazakhstan and this performance by Dimash revitalized the song. In addition, the final part he added, with an oriental Arab technique, is a funeral lament, paying homage to the dead vocalist! Bright! The song was originally performed in 1998 and the band's name is A'Studio. The dead singer left the band in 2000 and passed away in 2015 and his name was Batyrkhan Shukenov. The lyrics are by the poet Ilia Reznik together with Baigaly Serkebyev, who is the keyboardist with long hair, which we see in the video accompanying Dimash.

The finesse. He's wrapped all inside that song. His tone is so rich...his nuance and natural feeling is musically excellent. It's a real painting. THAT range in combination with THAT technique and THAT mix of different styles is simply unique. I love him! BTW, yes, he can sing with distortion, I've heard it in two of his performances. Hi Ken....About Dimash....he started taking singing lessons and piano when he was five. He is 24 years old now and if you watch and you should The I am singer show 2017 from China you will be mind blown. Dimash was 22 on this show...The first song w/ be SOS in French...the second is Opera 2 in Russian etc. Dimash plays the drums, the piano and the Dombra ( a Kazakh lute instrument w/ two strings.) He will play this in his song Dadidau. This is a Kazakh song . Dimash was a wild card on the singer show which had only famous singers competing against each other and no one thought he would get through. So happens that he won first place with the first song he sang...SOS. He came in second on the show but, he is known around the world now....over 100 countries. Dimash had a concert in London recently and people from over 40 countries came to see him. @@danielterres957 No shit it's whistle register. You can't go into the 7th or 8th octave without hitting whistle. That like saying "you can't sing a bass note unless you singer lower than a C3". You're stating the obvious but criticizing? Makes no sense. His limit isn't E6 or F6 if he literally hits whistle notes in the 7th and 8th octave regularly.

@@matthew-tq7fj I said his limit in head voice is like E6. higher than that he begins to use whistle voice. do you know that head voice and whistle are different techniques right? using whistle voice he can go up to D8.

great reaction and analysis. people just couldn't say enough good about Dimash. he is simply the best voice in the world as people call him. yep, you're right, 'alien' is another nickname people call him. regardless of whether you are a person with great vocal knowledge like yourself or simply a general music listener like most of us, all do understand that Dimash is the best in this present time. he is a big star now but will eventually become a global mega star once he breaks into the US mainstream (not to prove but a bigger stage to show case, US - the biggest music market in the world). please react to more of his performances and viewers will surely be glad to come to enjoy it. there is no bad performances of his but rather which one is your favor(s). don't forget to react to the unforgettable day at Gakku concert if you want to hear the famous "D8" note.
