The reason why his voice moves people so much in this song is not simply vocal proficiency and talent, but it’s his PASSION. He sings with an immense amount of emotional intensity and he sings from the HEART. While he’s singing, he looks like he’s getting lost in the story and feels the message that’s being portrayed. When someone sings in this kind of way, it causes the listeners to feel all kinds of things!! Bravo David Draimen 💕

I've been in this rabbit hole for days and it doesn't get old watching that wow moment or multiple wow moments which this song has, but I truly loved watching your expression at the very beginning of the song the first 60 seconds it was pure excitement and then about minute 1:08 you went from excitement to wonder and amazement I literally watched your eyes light up and that was priceless, also even after many many times listening to this song I still get emotional at that same part it never fails.

It's called "pathos". Most artists can't do it in their own music. People who live Edgar Allan Poe performance get it. It's digging deep and pulling the guts out of the world to make people feel the spade digging your being out of the words. If you aren't ready to sign commitment papers on a Poe performer, they failed. David did this to Silence.

By the second verse I wasn’t blinking I wasn’t moving it is the most incredible remake I’ve ever heard. I think S&G would give this a 2 thumbs up. David Draiman comes from an orthodox Jewish family and was classically trained as a cantor. In my opinion, there is no other male vocalist alive whose voice compares with David's on this track. He gives quite simply, an amazing performance here. Serene, your reaction to this song is exactly the same as mine and probably millions of others on first hearing, and when you see how many people have checked out the official video, you can see how popular this version is around the world. Apparently, Paul Simon loves this version too, and that's a hell of a compliment.

Both of those are practically must-see videos for any reaction channel. Also both bands have large dedicated armies of fans and both songs are ones that fans and non-fans alike actively seek out because they are epic songs that evoke powerful reactions. GLS goes a bit long, but even though I'm not really a NW fan, I gotta say it is well worth the slow burn. ;) There are two official live videos with exactly the same title, but fans prefer the Wacken one with 4x the views. Personally I find the earlier one incredibly charming when the lead guitarist is fanboying over the new singer at the end, but you'll get a ton of people saying you did the wrong one if you do that one. And pro tip: when you see the girl looking like she's having a religious experience at 8m 27s do any comments you want then let the rest play out. ;) Pisces is different - it says it is a live session but the live session was to record the drummer, still worth doing but plan to follow up later with a concert performance if you don't hate it and the fans will give you plenty of suggestions. Or you could cut to the chase with Perennial live at Wacken but you'll miss a lot of views and there is a twist that will be spoiled if you don't do Pisces first. };D>

I absolutely agree. I think Sounds was written for David.. He explained it's true meaning through his performance.. Just like Johnny did for Hurt. I didn't much like the Nin version.. For me, they belittled what they were singing about... There's so much more to music than just singing or playing an instrument etc... There HAS to be emotion invested in it, you have to pass that on through the music, otherwise it's just an empty vessel. Like a lot of the music has become these days.. A means to make money.. Me personally? I like to connect with, and feel the music.. With Johnny, His investment in that song was pure. he's telling a story of his experience with it..

The band he's in is metal, but David is a classically trained opera singer. His ability to go between clear vocals and the grit without hurting his voice is something special. This performance is something that people should never forget. It's truly special. The tears start to fall because of the lyrics of the song, there is something about the emotion he throws into the 2nd half of the performance with the grit that just speaks to your soul.

The pan-out at the end of the song was amazingly well-timed! It did a constant zoom-out, yet hit all the key framings just as they were needed. The first tampini was fully in pic just as it was hit, the second tampini was in pic just as it was hit. The left guitar just got in frame for his last lick. And the zooming ended the very moment the song ended into an epic end framing. That is a cinematography feat well beyond what you would normally see on TV.

She is one of the most talented singers (male or female) on the planet, and the band is the best band that you have never heard of. I warn you though, it is a rabbit hole - if you listen to one song, you are instantly addicted and must listen to all of them. I DARE YOU TO LISTEN TO IT :D Ghost Love Score, Live at Wacken. PEACE

I have been listening to Disturbed since they came out..im older(46) I'm a biker ..a father.. this cover is the most prevalent showcase of David's mastery of vocals.. he is angel & demon in one and I can never hear it enough..goosebumps every single time..and it's been hundreds

I do have a metal band recommendation, or rather symphonic metal, which is an amazing genre of mixing metal music with elements of orchestral classical music together. Nightwish - Ghost Love Score live at Waken 2013. Just to warn you if you do the Nightwish army will decend upon you, lol! They are a bunch of nice but very passionate fans

Ms. Serene, love your reaction to this amazing rendition of S & G's original hit. This song has special meaning to me because the first time I heard it, I was on my way to the hospital to see my mother, who the doctors had informed us 2 hours earlier, had 3-6 months to live... That was over 6 years ago. I can't listen to it without tears welling up... I love this version! I would love to see your reaction and your thoughts on Shinedown's, "Simple Man".

I love how he moves in and out of his cleans so flawlessly. The emphasis on the grit during certain lines just really brings out the emotion for me. Between the arrangement that builds but doesn't compete with the vocals and David Draiman's incredible technique and tone this is one of the best performances and covers I've ever had the privilege to hear.

Late to the party. I grew up with the music from the 60s and 70s thanks to my parents. I am horrible listening and hearing lyrics to songs. Simon and Garfunkel have wrote some of the greatest songs in the 20th century. I love the sound and harmonies from them. Disturbs version of sound of silence actually let me hear and understand the lyrics. The way they put this together and just spread what this song is all about is amazing. It is my dad's favorite song and he loves the original song.
