It was fun to see this reaction. The men of Home Free are: Austin Brown - high tenor Rob Lundquist - tenor, has beard Chris Rupp - baritone, often wears a cowboy hat, brother to Adam, founder of group Tim Foust - bass Adam Rupp - beatboxer, occasionally sings baritone, brother of Chris, founder of group In 2016, Chris left the group and a new baritone Adam Chance (goes by Chance to avoid confusion with Adam Rupp) was added. Chance can also sing bass which allows them more vocal freedom when Tim sings lead. When they decide to do a song, whether a cover or original, they have a sing off between themselves to come up with a lead singer. So some songs have more than one lead. They are known for great harmonics and humor especially during live shows. If something goes wrong on stage they are known to make fun of it and just keep the audience (and themselves) entertained. They have both serious and comedic songs and videos. Fans are referred to as Home Fries, a name created by Ben Folds when Hone Free was on the Sing-Off.

@@KillerTruffle No, Tim displays a G#1 in Misty.
@KillerTruffle
@KillerTruffle 4 жыл бұрын
@@keoashford1924 Where is confirmation on this? Because I've seen this debate, and I have personally compared the end note of Misty Mountains against a number of samples of G#1, and Tim is clearly an octave below that. It's a growl, not a chest note, but I have found nothing actually supporting it being a G#1. It matches G#0, and is a half step below his A0 in Sold! (which I have also checked against a number of A0 samples to confirm a match, as well as A1 samples to confirm it is an octave lower). If you have more solid evidence than this that it is indeed G#1, I'm interested to see it.
@keoashford1924
@keoashford1924 4 жыл бұрын
@@KillerTruffle The A0 does not exist in Sold. There is a video on Dan Mirabel's channel where Tim video responds to a question about the A0. Tim's growl in Misty is only a first octave note, and it's very obvious when taken to a keyboard. Sorry if your aural skills aren't on par mate.
@KillerTruffle
@KillerTruffle 4 жыл бұрын
@@keoashford1924 I looked at that video (hadn't seen it before), and it's a little short of a confirmation. He said "I believe... but my memory's not great." That does raise more into question, but I still do not see concrete evidence that it's not an A0. In fact, nowhere in Tim's reply did he state that the note was an A1 rather than A0. The only question Tim's response even touches on is who actually sang the note - he "believes" it was Adam. Which if that's true, I just got a whole lot more respect for Adam too - and he's already one of my favorites in the group (great sounding bass in Mayday), if it's possible to have favorites when every one of them is amazing. I will admit I do not have a keyboard handy to track along with the notes and have only been able to make due with finding other note samples online, but I'll look into it some more.

You have found a treasure trove of a capella with Home Free. Please check out net from Home Free - Helplessly Hoping (a cover of a 1969 Crosby, Stills & Nash B-side song) It's ART,,,,just plain and simple ART. The Home Free Bass is Tim Foust, the high tenor at the beginning was Austin Brown, their tenor (guy with the beard and glasses) is Rob Lundquist, beritone here in this video is Chris Rupp who founded the group, but he left in 2016 to have a solo career, and was replaced by Adam Chance (but called in the group & by fans just Chance), and the beatboxer is 2 time world Champion beat boxer Adam Rupp. They can do all genre's of music, they have covered BoyzIIMen, and dozens of country artists but also some of their own originals. They have also collabed with Lee Greenwood, Kenny Rogers & the Oak Ridge Boys, We the fans call ourselves Home Fries. Also look for their cover of How Great Thou Art, an original Why Not ?, and their latest came out just this past Saturday....a cover of a Foy Vance song called Moonshine. There is video to of Adam Rupp's "drum solo" which has no drums here on KZbin. They give him a solo part at each of their concerts. I've seen them twice in concert...they also are still in Quarantine and have produced 10 new videos/songs since it all started. Their Quarantine song is funny, shows their sense of humor. Their cover of Everybody Walkin' This Land has a powerful message for today...

The beatboxer is Adam Rupp you need to watch Adam Rupp drum solo..he will make you a believer! Loved the harmonies and beatboxing! Avi and Tim were amazing! Notice how Tim held that last low note for about 10 seconds? Great reaction 🎉 I love Home Free😊

Tim Foust is Home Free's bass. Also, Home Free won the 4th season of the A Capella competition "The Sing Off". Pentatonix won the 3rd season of the show.

This is a reaction almost a year after this was posted so I'm sure you know by now that Home Free has five tenors and at least two basses. They are a deeply talented group. Thanks for the informative review.

Home Free's bass is Tim Foust who has a 5 octave range. He has said his voice didn't change until he was about 17 and he is now 39. Head down the rabbit hole that is Home Free and please react to "Mayday" where Tim will surprise you when he leads off that song. Tim has always said "Work on your high range and the low end will take care of itself". Tim is also a songwriter and has a solo album out titled "The Best That I Can Do". Welcome to the land of the Home Fries! You have a lot of work ahead of you.

His philosophy is similar to mine. I tend to believe that the low end will take care of itself, but I think that's easier for people who already have pretty low voices to begin with.

I just looked back at your list of reaction videos and I see no Pentatonix. You really should find something of their's to react to. I would recommend, Hallelujah or Bohemian Rhapsody, which has Avi Kaplan, the original bass, and Sound of Silence, which has their new bass, Matt Sallee, who took over for Avi, when he left for personal reasons.

I really think some of their original work is fantastic with Avi - like "Love Again" or "Sing" - but my favorites of their newer stuff is "Come Along" or "Deep End"

Tim Foust, Home Free's bass, has done a couple of interviews where he mentioned that his voice changed very late. He was already training in his tenor range and has worked to keep up with his upper range as well as his natural bass range resulting in a phenomenal 5 octave range. He also has a solo channel on KZbin with a few videos from his solo Doo Wop album where he recorded all the tracks himself. Check out his content. You won't be disappointed.

Prior to joining Pentatonix, Avi was studying opera and is a basso profundo with an extended high range. However, I think Tim Foust has an even more extended range to the high end.

You hit the nail on the head with "Basso Profundo". Before being recruited into Pentatonix when he was about 21, Avi was an opera major at Mt. San Antonio College in CA (Theory minor) and specifically trained as a Basso Profundo. Since leaving PTX, as others have said, he's done a lot of solo work, almost all of which is original. Here's a link to him performing his original "Chains", a piece that will show his range, released earlier this year: kzbin.info/www/bejne/lXzMYYqbiLerrKc

Tim Foust is the Home Free bass. Adam Rupp is the beatboxer. You know Avi. The rest of the group here I Chris Rupp, Adam's brother. The high tenor is Austin Brown and the other tenor is Rob Lundquist. All of the singers have superb voices. The beatboxer has a pleasant tenor voice but prefers background harmony parts when he does sing. Next steps depend on what you want to hear. They do a variety of genres, R&B try Thinking Out Loud / Let's Get It On or End of the Road a Boys to Men cover. Pop has a Billy Joel parody titled Quarantine. And of course plenty of country / folk Hillbilly Bone from Blake Shelton and Go Rest High by Vince Gill.

You need to explore more of Home Free, but also need to check out more Pentatonix (no "The" required). They are both top-notch with different styles and have very active fanbases with a lot of overlap between them. Pentatonix has 3 Grammys under their belt, as well. Avi, featured here, was with PTX from 2011-2017 when he left to spend more time with his family and helped find Matt Sallee to replace him.
