As a member of the trans community I never liked the trans couch beasti storyline. She made it perfectly clear in the earlier seasons, that she’s a proud, feminine woman. That she likes, make up and men and asked to dress up in dresses. I had a best friend that was the same way. People would ask her all the time if she was trans but she wasn’t. She was just a proud, masculine, looking woman. it just never sat right for me.
@DevonIsAwake2 жыл бұрын
Completely agreed! I’m a trans guy and this story line felt completely out of left field and forced.
@Kara-nt3ki2 жыл бұрын
Agreed 100% I'm certain they choose that random storyline because they had upgraded Dot to a series regular for the final season and needed a storyline for her character.
@soph48502 жыл бұрын
I agree, they built up a character for Beiste for seasons and then just destroyed all of what they’d said about Beiste feeling like a girl, a feminine woman, and wishing other people would see her like that, and then they ditched that story and decided he was trans
@jayjohnston972 жыл бұрын
Guys this is actually a way more common story than you think. I've heard so many stories from others in the trans community that have similar or the exact same story as coach Beiste. There's a lot of people who tried to force themselves into their assigned gender at birth until they just couldn't, just like gay/queer people who try to force themselves to be straight until they just can't anymore
@FinnPethybridge2 жыл бұрын
It also bothered me that they didn't use a trans actor for the storyline

LIVE REACTION OF THIS SONG NEXT PLEASE The Cast of Glee doesn't get enough credit for their raw talent. Alex Newell especially. Sings IDENTICAL to their sound IRL. One of the best singers and breakout stars of Glee for sure by far. Up there with Lea, Amber, and Naya (and Kristen, Adam, Idina, and Jonathan) They actually got a 300 large Trans Person Choir I believe. It could be 400-600 but I think it was 300 lol

I'm a trans masculine non binary person, and it makes me uncomfortable when you refer to her vocal chords as male. It's more accurate to simply say they're vocal chords that have had testosterone. I am AFAB, but I've had HRT, and I've gone from a soprano to a baritone. My vocal chords aren't suddenly "male" and they were never "female" because I am not female.

SPOILERS, but I hope they won't be too much. I'm putting space in case you don't want the spoilers about this choir. S P O I L E R First, you're right about Coach Shannon Bieste, he has indeed transitioned. He's been bullied by the students at William McKinley High, but then he also got bullied by people from another school. Wade/Unique decided to support him. The actor who plays Coach Bieste, Dot Marie Jones, is a lesbian (WOOHOO!), and was reported to be enthusiastic about helping tell this story, and said that the makeup made her look pretty much like her brother. The best part of this, other than Alex's H*cking Masterful Vocals, is that the choir backing up Alex Newell in this scene is made up entirely of trans vocalists. And they are bloody brilliant, and I love this whole performance SO MUCH.

What feels so heavy in this amazing performance, is that that choir is an official trans choir. And the song to me represents all the amazing bright life lost in the struggle to find themselves (especially trans) and here, their people, take up their voice and their story to make future struggles with that same thing less hard. Makes me cry just writing this how powerful this is.

You should do a reaction to the songs from sing one and sing two, I know that they probably aren't your type but everyone likes them. One song you should do is from number one and it's sung by a mouse, he is auditioning for a singing contest, the second song you should do is from the second one and it's called "this girl is on fire" and a wolf girl sings it. I just know the reaction you'll have for that, it is a short song, no longer than a minute, but it's pretty powerful.
