Hey man, what you do is really awesome, you seem to know your stuff and you were right about my lows! I do no vocal fry at all though, everything I do is all false - the highs are belted and pushed out very loud. The faster I make my vocal folds vibrate the cleaner sound I get in the scream, plus controlling the air by pushing it up into my nasal cavity for the extra high ones! I know a lot of people think I do fry so I wanted to comment and clear that up, I'm all about power in my vocals. Keep this up man you just got a new sub!

ok so firstly great video. you are the first vocal coach I've seen consistently react to videos on metal with harsh vocals so props for that. secondly my inexperience is probably showing since I tend to dislike songs that purely use harsh vocals compared to clean. unless the instrumentation is the primary focus. (a la Archspire) but how would you define good harsh vocals (or at least well performed in terms of technique). compared to those considered bad? My first example would be Tommy Giles Rogers Jr. of between the buried and me. who's harsh vocals are generally considered the weaker parts of his vocal kit (and considering he has been doing less and less of it if memory serves) compared to his sometimes soaring cleans.

You should check out Deviloof. They are a japanese visual-kei band, and they're brutal as hell. And their vocalist can do really sick shit. I recommend their song, Ishtar, or Torture, Ruin, Escape (there's a really sick vocal transition that I can't get behind). Or any of their heavier songs (because they have lighter ones). I would really like to hear your thoughts about them. :)
