I don’t think anyone has mentioned this but there were 400 brass musicians who joined the orchestra for this performance. The previous summer they had joined him on the square in Maastricht. They actually did four numbers altogether. Talk about a production! It was amazing. André has a unique talent stack of musician, producer and businessman.

So true! I am 39 and I love Andre Rieu, I am Dutch but I've never seen him perform live sadly. I love all kinds of music, from pop to blues to dance and rock but there is just something about Andre and his orchestra. Seeing the crowd react to the music is the best, they get so into it. Some joyous some emotional, just beautiful to watch. I hope he will be performing live at the Vrijthof square in Maastricht next year, I will be there that's for sure.

This song has been played by musicians during at least 2 shipwrecks the most famous being titanic! I can imagine a song like this truly did calm people and bring peace to those who had no chance in the frigid icy -2°c waters of the north atlantic not to mention the 132 people lost aboard the SS Valencia including the loss of all women and children aboard this is truly hauntung yet calming melody!

I love Andre Rieu. I always tell the choir I direct that if I am directing in close and tight that this means they should sing softly and that as I open up they should increase in volume. They are amateurs so it is necessary to be descriptive in directing. It always amazes me how much more feeling a conductor can draw from a body of singers or musicians. Composers put dynamic instruction into their works but, just like the scriptures I also deal with on a regular basis, it is interesting how different conductors interpret what the composer has included in the score.

So many of us growing up thinking Classical music is not cool to listen to. But we don't get the music... We grow older and it cuts deep moving us to tears. It is gorgeous!!!! Then when you see the emotions in the audiance the vibe and emotions only gets stronger. masterful. Conductins is for those that don't know Tai Chi :D
