I feel I need to correct Tara here! Actually vocal fry the vocal cords do NOT connect which is why, if done correctly, it doesn't destroy your voice. Using proper vocal fry you should need no rest, false cord screamers may need rest but vocal fry done right is almost 100% safe! A University study was done using a laryngoscope to see why metal singers don't destroy their voice over time doing this. They found the 'vocal folds' do NOT slap together, or make contact in any way, which is why it doesn't cause damage when done correctly! False chord 'screaming' on the other hand is usually very destructive over time! The vocal fry is an open articulation which is why it produces lower notes whereas false cord is a constricted articulation which is why it produces higher notes!
@justinrennick95034 жыл бұрын
Good explanation my friend. You are also not projecting from your throat, your air should come your chest. It can mess up your voice if you project straight from your throat.
@Axe_Slinger4 жыл бұрын
@@justinrennick9503 Exactly because the only way to project from the throat, which the huge majority of false chord screamers do everything constricts onto itself and as the air flaps the constricted vocal cords they slap against each other causing swelling and leads to likely formation of nodules and/or scar tissue (can't think of his name- the guy from The Used destroys his throat)! It can also, over time, cause paralysis of vocal cords. Fry vocals are always misrepresented as screamers, they are not! False chord=screamer Fry vocal=geowler
@Axe_Slinger4 жыл бұрын
@@justinrennick9503 Dr. Izdebski goes on to explain that by using a very, very high-speed camera (16,000 frames per second - by way of contrast, note that a movie is traditionally only 24 frames per second) placed inside a singer’s throat, he was able to determine that the vocal cords of your average metal frontman or woman never collide, which is how damage to those cords is normally created: “The images that we recorded clearly show that it’s produced predominately, predominately by structures above the glottis. So, the vocal folds do open and vibrate but actually don’t collide, and the entire sick area above - aryepiglottic folds, arachnoids, epiglottis - everything claps and dances, basically, and creates vibrations and creates acoustic orchestration… It’s that the area above [that’s] very loose and the air turbulence that comes through. The air that comes through produces turbulence, and the turbulence produces the sound.”

No dear Tara, this is not produced by exaggerated fry. That would be very unhealthy indeed and while it can be done and it is done, it appears only sparsely for coloring, in no case as a permanent technique. This is done by completely opening up the larynx, pushing it way down, then adding a serious amount of pressure from the diaphragm while in the same time closing the false vocal cords. And of course it takes practice.

@@Tarasimonstudios I highly encourage you to revisit Jinjer. Check out "Teacher Teacher" or "Who Is Gonna Be The One" (Live) in particular. Look deeper into the meaning of the songs that they are playing, and how they inform the performance. Pisces is all about the characteristics of the astrological sign, one of the biggest pieces being duality, so the clear switching back and forth is HIGHLY informed by the content of the lyrics. I love the fact that you did this in the first place, but just tapping the tip of the iceberg when it comes to rock and metal singing, especially with female vocalists, is in my humble opinion, doing a disservice to a large percentage of the vocal music that is out there. I was browsing through your reaction video playlist and I noticed a theme revolving mostly around a lot of melodic and more traditionally clean sounding singers. Nothing wrong with that, at all, but I think that your followers could benefit from some additional vocal styles. @@dougarnold7955 i don’t know actually lol. What i meant was that a lot of people try to understand that pisces energy, as i have heavy pisces energy within me as well. And it is considered the most confusing and dual sign. Because the symbol for pisces are the two fishes going in opposite directions. Yin/yang, light and dark, masculine/feminine. Tatiana the singer is actually a Pisces as well. And the fact that she sings softly and relaxed as well as the gutteral, growl, and scream is exactly what she was trying to portray of the duality of Pisces. We tend to act in opposite spectrums.

Because clean beautiful vocals are often associated with kindness and happiness, sadness. Whereas growling and screaming is anger, rage, frustration, hatred. TO ALL THE PEOPLE THAT ARE GONNA TRY SCREAMING NOW: First of: If you´re like me, you might have an inproper way of doing that growl/clearing your throat sound that won´t get you to that kinda sound. And... I´ve learned it the hard way. If you are not careful while practicing, you can really hurt yourself. Some have coughed blood after ignoring pain in their throat and continuing with their practice. If there is any style of singing that REALLY depends on your diaphragm support to the point where lack of such can cost you your voice rather fast, then it is screaming. The power should NEVER EVER come from your throat. When I scream or growl, my throat is NEVER squeezed or anything. It´s rather relaxed. The Diaphragm is what turns the sound into that crazy aggressive thing that you hear Tatianna doing here. So... If you´re feeling pain: STOP IMMEDIATELY. Give yourself a rest. Maybe even one or two days. Always stay hydrated and don´t force your throat to make the sound. Stay safe, because nothing can fully restore your voice, if there is to much damage. Greetings from Germany, Dominik \m/

1:34 the universal reaction when you realize Tati is the ultimate goddess of both clean and guttural vocals

She is an amazing vocalist no doubt. I too enjoy the reaction from people who aren't familiar with Jinjer

Passion has many voices, but in it's purest form, it burns some. I cherish her voice. And her ability to control it to it's fullest extent. One cannot truly appreciate the light without knowing what's in the dark.

She's Ukranian thats probably why she pronounces some words cuter than americans do XDDDDD
@MrDarthImperius4 жыл бұрын
East slavic accent is not pretty at all, so I guess, she, as many other ukrainians, tries to nail pronunciation as best as possible. I wish I could speak with a proper british accent, but I still can't remove my native accent, lol.

Have you ever heard any Ukrainian speakers yet? Lol 😆😆. Ukrainian sounds a bit similar to Russian. And Russian by any means is not cute at all.

@@justrandomthings709 ukranian is a bit softer, i guess. but anyway, slavic languages are rough, that is obvious

@timothyb73715 жыл бұрын
You absolutely have to do Nightwish-Ghost Love Score (Wacken). It's symphonic metal (no growling, promise!) The singer you'll see in that song is a trained opera singer and mixes opera and rock styles in the song (mostly rock in that particular song.) Floor is the vocalist you'll see in that video, and she is the band's third singer. The band's first singer was full on lyric soprano all the time. Their arrangement of the Phantom of the Opera is a good example of that first singer's abilities.
@dragana.kuzmanovic5 жыл бұрын
Floor actually attended Rock academy and she had just one year of operatic training, compared to Tarja who trained it for years. That's why Floor is much more versatile.
