And besides you don't need to like it, but don't say it's awful, have you listened to any modern pop? I think Simulation Theory is better than a lot of pop music nowadays. Of course that's not my place to judge lol

That distortion you notice is when the sound guy actually turns the levels up on his mic, its so the mic itself creates that distortion because he is actually maxing out the volume level with him singing that close to it to cause a muffled type of distortion, he is pretty much using the mic as both a mic and an effect. He also does it by singing pretty far away from the mic sometimes and then just swallows the mic to get the effect. People always wonder why they can hear his breath so well, thats why he is super close to the mic with no wind sock on it because he uses every sound all his equipment can make. In other words Matt Bellamy is a musical genius and it very much shows, since he is literally inventing his way of singing and a lot of his techniques would make a person shy away from them, he is turning what most say are ugly sounds/ unwanted sounds into something beautiful. He is probably one of the most revolutionary musicians to date.

Muse. So many complex, differently styled songs. Matt B's a musical genius and the band is so tight. A pleasure for the last 20 years or so. A band that has so many quality songs. No throw away songs from these guys. This is what I appreciate the most and similar in this way, Porcupine Tree, Dream Theater, Rush, and many others. Greatness and consistency!

I never understood Muse - I thought they were just overproduced and trying too hard - until I (I'm ashamed to say) reluctantly went to see them live with my then-boyfriend. Suddenly it all made sense! I can't get enough of them now. Matt Bellamy is one of the best singers I've heard live. And they are all incredible musicians. This very makes me so happy. The way you get so excited is so adorable. The analysis almost makes me cry because the way Muse first hit me was captivating. You were dead on the way he produces this “ dream like” state with everything incorporated into one to resonate with each other. More simply put, Muse is the band that plays in the background of life and makes everyone stop what they’re doing to listen. The world sat still when I first listened to Muse as if it were a spell cast on my ears. Many comparisons to Buckley and Mercury and Yorke but Matt Bellamy truly is his own breed and Muse are their own kind.

"He sounded like he had a distortion on the end there" - that's because there is a distortion on the vocal input kicking right at that moment up till the end of the song. One thing which only few people are aware of is Muse is 3 guys band (4 now) but some of their songs have more instruments than 3 (4) - How do they do it? Backing tracks? Meeeh, what about programming some midi devices instead, some arpeggios for example or maybe percussion here and there or couple of strings? Get some timer, so everyone is in sync and... let the show begin! Muse use effects and technology to enrich their performance like getting orchestra or other things you might not notice, but would immediately feel are missing if they weren't there... That's magic too...
