It's been 25 years and it still brings tears to my eyes what happened to her! She was so talented, so sweet and kind-hearted. What makes it hard for me is, as a fellow 3rd/4th generation Mexican-American girl who didn't know Spanish growing up and never quite fit in with either culture, she was truly all I had to look up to. She was brilliant, she knew that cultural struggle and persevered. She was our gem, and the world was robbed of her. Truly one of the greatest losses in music history. It pains me to even watch her because it's hard to fathom that bright of a light is gone, and probably died in shock and horror. She deserved so much better. Rest in peace Selena

Something I’ve admired about her voice is, aside from her incredible tone and over all excellent voice, the emotion in her voice. It was never too much or forced and definitely never compromised her technique. It always elevated the performance that much more. I’ve only come to realize just how difficult this was when I sang one of her songs and felt like something was lacking. It was the emotion. It’s incredible how effortless she made it seem considering how difficult it actually is
