Tengri is 58 years old well known singer in China. He is Mongol from inner Mongolia of China. He wrote this song in 1997 to express how much he miss and love his home town. His daughter passed away at a very young age due to illness so this song is for her as well. In the beginning there was traditional Mongolian throat singing. Some traditional Mongolian instrument was used in this performance like horsehead fiddle.

Wow what a beautiful translation! This song is actually written because Teng'ge'er 's homeland Inner Mongolia was such a heaven in his memory, that it gives him strength every time he feel exhausted living in the modern world chasing after his music career. However, Inner mongolia had been suffering greatly from loss of vegetation and desertization. So you were quite right that this song is about something really sad. If you only read the lyric, you might not realize it, but you can definately feel it.

The intro is Mongolian throat singing. His song is about his homelands ... he is singing the spirit of his connection to his homeland and sadly the loss of a daughter at a young age. The man is pure emotion of man and land - father and daughter - whom he is indelibly connected to with unconditional love, Respect and reverence. You dont understand though--- i done my military service in älvdalen tempratures was often -35c and snow was hard as asfalt... sometimes i could hear the wolves sing... when moon was up whit the snow it was daylight to me.. i alwas volunteer for sentry duty, and i sing with the wolves... after 2 days they knew me... day 3 they checked me out... when i see a wolve 35- comming up to me sniffing me is so fucking sick... get that on ur xbox

The crying guy's name is JI Jie, a singer and MC in China. He's from inner Mongolia of China. As he's born and grown up there, then left for work.. The song reminds him the same homeland, the "heaven" that he dreamed about all the time. A song full of emotion can touch the heart so easily......

His music is usually use in movies. He is I think 59 years old. Hua Chenyu also sang this song that is why he is in awe. There is a version of this with english subtitle you feel the song better.

Yes, Hua cover this song in 2017 with his rearrangement within 24 hours at the program "The Next". Tengger sang this in 2018. Both are amazing song and describe different heaven

6 years ago I watched him sing the song in the actual Chinese Parlament hall (The Great Hall of the People). It was unusual for me to get this opportunity as a foreigner and only possible because my Chinese wife got the tickets through her job. Was impressed back then and still am. A beautiful display of Chinese music culture.

Since he was 58 years old, you could feel that he was using his whole body as well as whole spirit to sing this symbolic song, trying to leave the last remarkable milestone of his life for audiences as a memory. Magically, time to time this singing can still move my heart.

You're very observant. You noticed the way he could make a sound/sing with a mouth almost closed, like smiling, and the way he starts with a low volume, increasing in volume while crescendoing, doing it back and forth like flowing water. He has a very different, beguiling singing technique. I could also see that, in spite of not understanding the lyrics, his performance affected you emotionally. You're right. It's a sad song, telling of his longing for his hometown in Mongolia. When he belts "I love you" in Chinese, it pulls your heartstrings. I really enjoyed your reaction.

Yeah, I was looking for this one ! Tengri is very unique and he represents what I like in chinese/world music in general. He seems to be very humble and passionate too. Alongside Hua Hua (Hua Chenyu) and Henry Huo Zun (another great chinese singer to watch) he was one of my favorite contestants in Singer 2018. Apart from "Heaven", I think my favorite Tengri's performance was his duet with the opera singer Wu Bixia, "Jiu-er March Forward".

wow so glad to find this reaction video, you are really a vocal professional from the comment I can see. Just interpret about the Huuuuuuu~ part, it is the wolf howl. The Mongolians live on the grassland not only with horse, cow, and sheep but with the wolves. They have a legend story about their ancestor who was the raised by a wolf. So the sound of wolf howl is one part of the life on grassland :)

It took the producers quite a bit to convince him to come on The Singer. Fascinating, powerful singer. Check Out The HU for more Mongolian music which is also very powerful. I believe the landscape contributes to this amazing style. Fake Monk guy (Hua Chenyu) was tasked with rearranging Heaven on The Next show by a challenger. Much softer, but very beautiful. 24 hours to do that. Skateboard Shoes came from that show. Also, Nanping Evening Bells with Su Shiding who won that year. Beautiful song with a surprise or two.
