One thing to note is Vanessa had some huge vocal problems in the middle of their career, her voice would constantly crack and she couldnt hit the notes like she used to (you can see in some videos she looks up to the ceiling and is really straining) , they addressed it in their American reality show but it was kind of brushed under the carpet as an anxiety problem. Either way her voice is back to how it used to be now and she does some great R&B stuff! Her adlibs in no scrubs were superb

FINALLY The Saturdays! Vocally Vanessa is the strongest when she’s at her peak (2008-10 & 2013-14) because in between this she struggled vocally for a while. Mollie‘s high harmony’s are always super solid too. I’d take a look at some of Vanessa’s solo performances since going solo, especially acoustic versions of her single Good Good. Stunning.

I think Vanessa was great during the Chasing Lights and Wordshaker era but started to decline, she started smoking and she’s also admitted to drinking a lot during around the Headlines and On Your Radar era (she also went out quite fast on Popstar to Operastar which I think ruined her confidence a bit) but then if you look at their last tour (The Greatest Hits Tour) her vocals are a lot more secure

2010 - 2012 Vanessa said she used to go out partying and drinking all he time so it had an effect on her voice. She quit drinking in 2013

That's the most interesting thing about The Saturdays, the best singer is not obvious. It depends on the time. Sometimes Vanessa was the best, sometimes Rochelle or Una. You can see their development and growing as vocalist trhough the years.

Loved this. The girls are so good, there’s some amazing vocals out there from them. It’s a shame watching this and seeing Vanessa’s vocal change. She went through some rough times and her voice got a bit ruined for a bit, but towards the end of the band she got it back - you can see it slowly return in the final video you played. Thanks for the doing The Sats, they’ve got some really good acoustic performances out there like their AOL performances. Would love to see more 💕

Very underrated girl group here! Its a shame because Vanessa has a great voice and has released two EPs that have gone under the radar. Frankie and Mollie also had some great live lounge moments. I would watch it all. The clip without Frankie is she’s off having a baby! This group has so amazing songs in their catalogue. Do an singles review! 🥰🥰

The reality is that The Saturdays were much better at acoustic sets that live performances on TV or on tour. I love them and love lots of their music. This is just how I see them. To be honest that is how I see many girl groups - perfect harmonies for acoustic. Sometimes they should tone down the show for TV and show off their skills.

The Saturdays got a lot of flack back then because they couldn't really dance & sing at the same time...but anytime they did stand still, they were actually pretty decent singers - even Mollie and Frankie. Vanessa is obviously the best singer of the group. Every singer has a bad day. Her being #2 or #3 in a performance doesn't change much. Nadine wasn't always constantly the best one in every GA performance. Perrie isn't constantly always the best one in a LM performance, etc. Vanessa's vocal decline was a little unfortunate. I think it was mostly just a larynx that go above its neutral position, thus tightening up the vocal cords and squeezing them + a little bit of anxiety making her throat close out of nerves. So to get those high belts out, she constantly felt the need to push a lot more air, resulting in the sounds we hear. She got a lot flack for switching to headvoice half of the time, but I actually thought it was a pretty smart decision from her.

I really think The Saturdays is the best girlsband in many terms. They released music constanly, no member left, each member has a good voice and harmonies are perfect, no drama, best collection of singles. They don't get the flowers the deserve in the industry

Can confirm that they did indeed rehearse all their live lounge performances as shown in the “flips” they used to show us. Frankie and mollie had a small solo in Ego but you cut that part out so check it out

Emma Pari They weren’t managed very well. There was a lack of good promotion, always on kids shows or morning tv, rarely utilised good platforms to reach a wider audience, weren’t the best at singing and dancing at the same time, choreography was sloppy/basic, by the end their songs were becoming generic (what are you waiting for) and it seemed like they didn’t have much drive left. Even Frankie admitted she felt like it had become a chore and wouldn’t rush back. They definitely had potential and charted well overall but they failed to PROPERLY break through in my opinion.

For me it's: 1) Rochelle 2) Una 3) Vanessa 4) Frankie 5) Mollie Rochelle is number one because of her versatility and great clear voice. Una with how unique and smokey her voice is and her impressive high notes. Vanessa has power but not as versatile as Rochelle and Una. Frankie is above Mollie for the simple fact that Frankie can do all of Mollie's parts but Mollie can't do most of Frankie's parts. Frankie's biggest problem is how badly she was utilized in the group. Her best utilization is definitely in their songs 'Deny' and 'Faster'. Mollie's saving grace is they knew how to utilize her voice and her technique is quite good.

I disagree with what you said about the ranges, I think the lowest voice is Una (she has the richest lower register and can go down to about C3, and she has the low harmony in Issues), then it’s Rochelle (she also has a rich lower register and sings the middle harmony in Up), then in the middle there’s Mollie (she has a bright tone in her head voice and usually sings the melody, she can also go low and sing higher harmonies too), then there Vanessa (she doesn’t really have the richness to her lower register, she pretty much always sings the melody and she can get to A5 in Head Voice/Falsetto) and the highest is Frankie (she pretty much always sings the higher harmony, like in Issues or Here Standing)
