Jimmy is the song that changed my life from a musical point of view. For the longest time I had heard so many Tool songs while hanging out with friends who liked them and I just never got why. One day I decided to finally put some headphones, shut off all the lights, and blast some Tool. When the album got to Jimmy something about it just clicked! I layed there hitting replay over and over again the second the song got to the end. I finally understood what truly talented musicians could do. It made me wonder what the hell I had been wasting my life on by listening to any other crappy music. That night I got every piece of Tools work I could find together and listened to them for 10-12 hours. I've never looked back since. Tool has both ruined any other music for me while keeping me on the greatest audio journey of a lifetime through them

Such a tragic song. Maynard was 11 when his mother suffered a paralyzing aneurysm, 10000 days is how long she lived after. The song hints at that he became stuck and fractured mentally when it happened. That line "When one and one are one, eleven" is brutal. There is just something about Maynard and how he uses his voice that is just mesmerizing. Mix that with the skill of the rest of the band and they are even more than the sum of the parts :) Pushit salival version will stun you!

@MissMirokie5 жыл бұрын
@El-ahrairah 100% agree. A few Tool songs hit the same (melody) idk, of APC, but his vocals on APC are bananas.
@thisis51235 жыл бұрын
El-ahrairah I came here to say the same thing. im a singer myself. I’ve played music for 22 years( I’m 26 now). Started with trumpet and finally realized the power of DAW’s and honing my vocals 6 years ago. Normally the internet is a good way to get terrible advice, but here is some actually good advice. Maynard joined/partially created APC because of him feeling his vocal abilities weren’t being expressed properly in Tool. There are good vocal abilities that start to really stand out on lateralus with Schism, parabola, and then 10,000 days. That’s when Tool became really more defined and brought to a higher level of fine art. Anemia and Undertow are great and I love that music in my heart for the rock feel. But it becomes something else entirely with lateralus and 10,000 days. But mainly Puscifer( all of it) and especially the new A Perfect Circle album (Eat The Elephant)with the song Delicious. Jimmy is an amazing song but it seems to be a reason for the band not playing it anymore other than the subject matter being ultra personal and from another time in Maynard’s life. Also sonically its a little dated and seemed like the very early entry of elements that would come with lateralus and later Puscifer and apc. Eat the Elephant is Maynard best vocal performance to date though. Your getting a lot of Tool fans in these videos requesting their favorite tool songs to some degree

Hell yeah, it's by far their best album, I've been a tool fan for literally 20+ years and I can still remember the first time I listened to that album all the way through... as soon as stinkfist started, it felt so indescribable...like my whole life was destined just to reach that moment...like I had finally found the music I had been searching for...it felt so familiar somehow, like I was reliving a repressed memory from a past life. I've seen Tool 13x times live and although I never got to see them between 1996 and 2001, I did see them 4x on the Lateralus tour and I was able to see them play the salival version of PushIt while I was on a heroic dose of Acid...it was epiphanal

@BallTistic Screecher while I tend to agree that I wasn't blow away the first time I heard "fear Inoculum" the song, I am holding off judgement until I hear it in the context of the full album. The second and third time I heard the song I liked it a bit more, but I feel like it might be a better song in the context of the album.

I felt really engaged with the song for it's entire 10 minutes which is hard to pull off by it self ... It really grows on you .... It's no Vicarious as an opener but yeah we gotta be optimistic ... We definitely waited a long time to be this negative @balltistic

Do a reaction to Pushit, the live acoustic version off of Salival. I guarantee you will find quite a lot to talk about. It is my absolute favorite track by Tool and I've been following them since Opiate.

I agree with this guy you should do the Salival version of Pushit but first you have to find a comfortable yet vulnerable position to relax in
