ABOUT…
I am Rebecca and I am one heck of a passionate vocal coach/singer/songwriter/impressionist/health/fitness/self- improvement/anything that makes me smile!! I love anything vocal/singing related and geek out on it every day. I want to motivate and inspire others to follow their dreams…corny? Well maybe but it’s true. So what’s motivating me?? I had a huge tumour removed summer 2017 and my ovaries and fallopian tubes. The tumour was the size of a 20 week baby!! However, despite not being able to walk for a couple of weeks, and feeling generally awful…. It has made me create and do what I love! It wasn’t an easy time but I won’t let fear dictate my life. I didn’t think ‘why me’, there are plenty of horrific issues people have to deal with…it’s not always smooth sailing. It’s true when you hear, ‘Life is short’, the crazy thing is, I am glad it happened…I appreciate life even more and practice gratitude everyday…It’s so easy to get caught up with the little things…and I do sometimes, but look at the bigger picture, will it matter in a year or two…?
Also thank you for all your support. It means a lot.
Subscribe to Rebecca Vocal Athlete to get inspired by new videos weekly!!
Have a great day!!
Rebecca

Actually Sober is about his addiction to alcohol and how it destroyed who he was and everyone around him. One reason why Maynard's music is soo good is because it comes from a real place. A place he relives every time he sings the song. You can see him shaking from alcohol poisoning as he sings this song. Thats what the vocal coach is missing. Its not just an act to him. Its part of his history. Every tool song has a meaning, some of them are just very personal to Maynard. H is another one...

Its basically his kind of stance for performances. If you think that's weird, watch him dance like that. @apatheticallyconcerned6574
@apatheticallyconcerned6574 3 жыл бұрын
No no no. He does not have stage fright. Maynard has a condition where certain lights can cause him to pass out. He positions himself at the back because lights aren't as big a problem there. It's why at concerts in daylight with no lightshow, you will see him more up front because strobing lights aren't a problem there. For example, with Puscifer he's not "hiding" from the crowd at all. In dimly lit arenas with a light show, the visual effects team and Maynard have a signal worked out. If he is starting to feel dizzy from the lights, he moves his mic stand to a certain spot and the strobing lights are toned down until he moves the mic stand again.

Yeah this was before he started hiding from the crowd. He said he used to just pick a single person in the crowd to sing to so he wouldn't be intimidated by the size of the crowd. He'd kind of get into a new character for every song and just pick someone to play for.

The problem is that photographers employed by newspapers must sign that they are wiolling give the rights to the band TOOL. And this means that the person taken the photo can be accused of stealing a image if that person is using his/ hers own image. This has also been mentioned in relation with the Danish band Volbeat.

I’m sure you know vocals, but his posture, to me, is intentionally “inadequate.” He wrote a song about a dependency so strong it was referred to as a “a stalking butler.” To me, Maynard is obviously embodying the character of the song’s narrative by appearing downtrodden and unorthodox due to addiction.

Funny, although I am too, many times moved to tears by art, I feel bad for people who are incredibly sensitive and lack emotional maturity to be accept things for what they are. I'm pretty sure doesn't want fans to be completely emotionally absorbed zealots. And trust me, I wish half my ex's could get at least half invested into music as I am. But at the same time. This song is NOT about addiction it is about behavior. Sober does not necessarily have to do with substance abuse. This has more to do with exhibiting moderate temperament and not being overly dramatic in response to the things life throws at you. To be sober is to deal with what life brings without hyberbole, drama or an overt display of emotion and/or/ as well as being controlled when recognizing one's behavior when presented with things that attempt to provoke a dramatic response.

@@dylankillmer6984 Okay, regarding the fibonacci sequence, I assume you're referring to Lateralus. I've heard people claim that it uses fibonacci sequences, but I can't figure out where in the song they're referring to. Most of the song is based on a highly repetitive d minor chord, occasionally going to an f major. Like most Tool songs, 99% of the song is one or two chords repeated over and over. In fact, to make things even less original, 90% of their songs (including this one, and Lateralus) are written in d minor and never change keys a single time! It's really infuriating that this is supposed to be prog metal and yet the songs never go anywhere at all musically. Now, when you say "47 tempo changes" I assume you're referring to changes in time signature, because Schism has the same tempo throughout the song. In any case, time signature changes don't make a song good. They are definitely part of making a song complex, but I could list dozens of prog metal bands that have generic, boring chords and try to make up for it by having tons of time signature changes. That's cool and all, but it's not enough for me. And while Schism in particular is more musically interesting than most of their other songs, it still mainly repeats the same 2 or 3 chords over and over again. And it's also in d minor - wow, who would have guessed? :P To answer your question, yes, I can point to other bands that have just as many time signature changes or more, plus they actually have songs with more than 3 chords. Check out Lost Not Forgotten by Dream Theater, Cockroach King by Haken, Endless Knot by Haken, or Blood by To-Mera. I could name dozens of others.

I'm glad she liked it. Maynard has always been about emotion. He sings what matters to him, and IMO that peaked with aenemia. Undertow being a close second. Opiate was pretty obvious what it was about. Then Tool traveled into personal matters and immediately launched into the history books. The feeling in songs like Sober and H are so intense, and get even more intense when you know the background. But watching this, its obvious why tool toured a lot more with lateralus than the previous albums. That was much less personal. You can see maynard reliving his addiction on stage as he sung this. Powerful...
