So this is really not my comfort zone here! I Ended up doing a last minute coaching session for a friend after his coach was unavailable , and he was working on this song. I'd never heard of the song or the musical before, but I really liked the way the song moved so I thought i'd give it a bash! Should have taken more time to learn it and maybe not tried a one take, but if you're not living on the edge you're taking up too much room!

Thank you for taking me back to 1975 when I was in a high school production of Godspell! I got to do We Beseech Thee in that production and had a wonderful time.

Like many great songs - it comes through in the end. Thanks for sharing. I would agree about the vibrato, but it actually worked, so who cares. You totally got into the flow and pacing of the song which is, to me, the biggest thing about communicating a song and not just singing it.

I don't know if you know any of these people, but many actors who met as members of the 1972 Toronto cast of Godspell went on to be fixtures on N.American TV and in movies. You might know Victor Garber as Jennifer Garner's father in the TV show Alias. He played Jesus in Toronto, broadway, and in the movie version. Other comedic actors who mostly ended up on SCTV and Saturday Night Live are Gilda Radner, Eugene Levy, Martin Short, Andrea Martin, and Dave Thomas. The musical director was Paul Shaffer, who later was David Letterman's band leader for 33 years. Eugene Levy ( SCTV, American Pie, Schitt's Creek, many Christopher Guest movies) originally tried out for Jesus, but was told he looked too Jewish. They were afraid that the amount of upper body hair he had might frighten the children in the matinee audiences. Granted - none of this has anything to do with the good effort you just put forth, but that's all I know about Godspell.
@SSTVocalCoach4 жыл бұрын
I knew literally none of that! Thanks for the background, I'll have to check out more of the show!

Hey Sam. Have you heard of Teddy Swims? Pls do a reaction. The song is I can’t make you love me cover song. Thanks for all you do
@jemersondominguez21024 жыл бұрын
Nice tone. Maybe the song needs to be rearranged to be applicable to your vocal range. It seems a good bridge will allow your vocal range go on a flight. Keep it up. Congrats and God bless.
Sounds boring.. but also chill.. if that makes sense. Anyway, it sounds like something is stuck on your throat like some phelgm.. make a cover of a sweet gentle type of song and maybe expose your beautiful vibrato. 👌🏻
