3 REASONS THIS SONG WILL GO DOWN IN SINGING HISTORY: 1) he starts without any pitch cue, meaning he has to depend on his perfect pitch to bring him into the song-if he misses, there’s no covering it up, so it’s super risky, and he does it effortlessly 2) he sings that whole song on one vowel (the “AHHHH" sound he's using), doesn’t close his mouth for the length of the performance, and never once touches or uses the microphone/mic stand for support 3) THAT LAST NOTE. Which is a 15 second Messa Di Voce (placing the voice); a very ADVANCED singing technique. Basically you crescendo and decrecendo a note, with only the volume changing-no pitch change, or vibrato change, or tone change, etc. Then, he just lets it fade in air...it’s one of the biggest vocal flexes I’ve ever seen in my life-A MASTERPIECE 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 🦌🇨🇦💜🇰🇿

By the way, there was nothing easy about this song, not even for Dimash, as any vocal coach would tell you. The level of breath control and dynamic contrast was so masterfully done that very few artists could deliver this performance. He sang the entire piece in a male head voice, maybe even a countertenor/soprano style quality. As I stated in my other comment, the last note Diamsh sings, known as "Messa di Voce", the singing of a gradual rise and fall of the voice on a long sustained note, is considered one of the most difficult vocal exercises, and voice experts regard it as the ultimate test for any singer, a skill even the most experienced and skilled vocalists rarely ever master. Just because Dimash makes every performance look effortless does not mean that Dimash is not challenged or that he does not put in a lot of effort. His performances are the result of a lifetime of the most rigorous daily discipline, dedication, and training of his craft.

That ending is not a piece of cake. The control was amazing. But it’s really the feeling that Dimash transmits. This is an adaptation of Schubert’s Ave Maria. It’s a song of praise to God. Dimash is deeply spiritual. This was dung from a deep place in him. It’s not just about hitting the notes...it’s singing ones soul. Dimash has various performances where the song touches him in a profound way and you can tell it in those performances. Others are fun, or classic or pop and then he has these songs that mean something. Dimash is just what this world needs. As a society that has largely thrown God in the trash....Dimash’s voice brings us back in touch and despite themselves people realize they feel something that jostles them a bit... but in a good way. This is God working in us. The Devil has been around too long. Dimash is humble. He has a healthy confidence and appreciates the gifts he’s been given and those who have supported him along the way. This song I believe reflects Dimash’s truest heart.

Igor Krutoy is not his pianist. He is the composer of this competition and every song Dimash sings and he plays the piano, the song was composed by Igor Krutoy. You should check him in Wikipedia to appreciate the talented person Igor is. Igor returned from retirement after he saw Dimash singing Sinful Passion and started composing and arranging his older songs to accommodate them to Dimash vocal range.

Igor did not write the songs in the I am Singer competition. Igor is a very famous composer , billionaire from Russia. As you say after seeing Dimash sing Sinful Passion he came out of retirement to collaborate with Dimash. Make no mistake it is an honour for Dimash to have Igor take him under his wing and compose songs with Dimash’s and wide range and talent.

@Theo Miller I know that Dimash composed some of his songs as well as other composers have written for and he has also done covers of other peoples songs . I think some of the best songs he sings are songs by Igor. All I’m saying is they make a great team. The person who I responded to seemed to be under the impression that Igor wrote almost all the songs Dimash sings. Dimash is definitely his own man .

Ahh Vay Maria is a religious song, usually with words but Igor composed this 13th version without words for Dimash. He also sang 2 more new songs at this year's Igor Krutoy's annual New Wave festival. The other 2 new ones are Stranger and Fly Away. Please react to "Stranger" and "Fly away" too. I think his ability to pass emotions through his voice is what makes him an outstanding artist. But, also I think this piece is extremely difficult especially for a male vocalist. The last note was very high and he did a fading in and out effect and it sounded super clean. It's masterfull! There are very few male singers (if at all) that can do that.

This rendition touches the very core of my soul. I have watched this performance numerous times already since it premiered and my eyes fill with tears the moment I hear the first note sung by Dimash's angelic voice. This is a vocalise interpretation of Ave Maria that Igor Krutoy (on piano) composed for Dimash (not a cover), using only 4 original bars from the original composition. The last note Diamsh sings is known as "Messa di Voce", the singing of a gradual crescendo and decrescendo on a long sustained note. It is considered one of the most difficult vocal exercises and voice experts regard it as the ultimate test for any singer, a skill even the most experienced vocalists rarely ever master. There are at least 10 other compositions titled "Ave Maria" and over 40 different renditions of these versions. Thank you for the great reaction. Your insight into Dimash and singing in general is greatly appreciated. You are right about Dimash's ability to vocalize. He has the most perfect "instrument" in his well trained voice. But his "magic" is still his connection to the song and audience. In fact he is the perfect conduit between the two. There were no words sung in this performance. None were needed. But he still "told the story" to the point of tears welling up. Thanks again for delving deep into the phenomenon of Dimash.

Hearing Dimash always makes me happy I able to experience this man’s amazing musical art. It also always makes me sad that one day it will come to an end like during one of my favorite sports teams that created dynasties but then eventually they all had an end date. Ah-vay Maria means Hail Mary. Igor Krutoy (pianist & composer) is Jewish and Dimash is Muslim. This song is dedicated to the Mother of Jesus Christ, a prominent figure in the Christian faith. These guys are lovely people!!! Igor came out of retirement just to write and work with Dimash. What a pair! My new favorite Christmas song.
