20:40 Gb for sure, for that little grace note! The long held note ("knooow") is a tad sharp there, which might be the actual problem you were hearing, more so than the grace note. The blob as a whole might be snapped to the correct note, but the pitch line shows that the beginning of that note is sharp.

Thanks for the vid, Jon. Looks like everyplugin has Melodyne 5 Essential for about $43 USD right now, and it'll pair nicely with a Sweetwater upgrade to Assistant for about $79 USD. I've been considering this for a while, but watching actual workflow with it was super helpful!

Hi there... I have Melodyne assistance, using Reaper... after I imported a track into Melodyne, how do I reimport, if I have new takes on the track? I cannot find this, and I have looked! Even removing and re-adding Melodyne seems to keep the track data and not 'refresh' with the new recordings. Thank you.

I am visually impaired and I can make music with ripper. But I have a problem with Melodyne tuning. I can't click on the track with the keyboard (like you click with the mouse) Do you know how to tune with Melodyne with the keyboard? Is there a shortcut key?

Just curious why you wouldn't first turn off the vocal FX when working on the vocals in Melodyne?

When you can't move the cutting points (the note separations) check in the options menu if you can tic "Show Note Separations". Then you can see the separation lines and move them right/left. But I don't have the Essentials version. If you can not find such option, you can make a new cut and erase the old cut, in both cases by double clicking.

I just change my DAW. I was on Studio one 5 and i have now reaper 6. I have melodyne studio 5.3 but reaper can not read the track when i put melodyne VST3 on it. I mean reaper read it but there is no sound. My recording system is Waves Digigrid D Is there anybody who have a solution or knows this problem ?

Have you noticed that if you have a bunch of melodyne plugins in a project that it really bogs down Reaper (especially on saving or autosaving)? Muting the track doesn't help. I wonder if the ARA data starts to build up in the project file or something like that? Any ideas?

Back to Vielklang, but it's also acting weird in the newer Reaper versions. Stable but puts audio clips in really odd places inside the plug-in arranger, which it never used to do.

Hey man, is there any way at all to have Melodyne remember the pitch correction percentage when using the Pitch Macro? Older versions of Melodyne remembered from the first correction. Seems newer versions reset to 0% every new selected blob/vocal which I find insanely inconvenient. Thanks! Great vid, btw!

Anyone running into the issue of where opening Melodyne on a different track may display the notes/data of another tracker? Sometimes it will then play the wrong notes that don't correlate to the original wave file it is supposed to be interpreting?

Hey Jon! On the windows version of REAPER+Melodyne you can click and drag in the interface ( with any tool selected) while holding alt+ctrl to zoom without having to select the zoom tool. This is probably also possible in the Mac version? Perhaps with cmd+alt.

I normally do "Apply FX as new take" for pitch stuff, but I see if I do that with melodyne it makes a new set of blobs that look way off

Is the issue about "Undo" because you use to save the undo history along with project file? I didn't understand what is the drawback, does the Reaper becomes laggy? Project file too big? Or Ram Memory usage too high?

the immediate pitch reading is good, but problem is that if you add melodyne to a 2 hour long track from a concert recording it's gonna take ages to recognize and render... is it possible to make it work only for a region? or should I go splitting the track and apply melodyne only to the single item?

I was hoping to hear more about ara2 and reaper-specific things. There is a lot of unobvious things. For example, what happens with your edits if you move in time, move items to other tracks, switch active takes, etc. I can not determine by myself how exactly all it works, and the manual is not clear about it

That's a good point and I'll try to get back to answering those questions. My gut feeling is that it would be the same as the trim edit I showed. Any manual edits would be lost if you moved the audio to a different track or made a different take active. But none of those situations came up in my demo project so it didn't occur to me to test. I didn't feel like I covered anything, but by the end I had a pretty bad headache so wanted to wrap it up.

Really useful video, thanks. Only just got to it! :-) Do you think there's likely to be a way of using Melodyne outside of the fx chain? So it can just be 'flattened', rendered independently of genuine effects? That would avoid all the faff you had to go through at the end there.

This video might be a bit outdated now because there have been dozens of tweaks to Melodyne and reaper since. You can use Melodyne on individual items or in the fx chain. You can freeze the track up to Melodyne in the fx chain.

No luck here. Latest updates of both products. Melodyne VST2 doesn't auto load track audio file. VST3 version auto-loads but then plays no audio and quickly crashes the host. Windows 7 x64.

Totally off topic but do you think Reaper 6 with have Chord Track? I know you probably cant answer that if you're in the know but i couldn't resist. Plus that's the only area Reaper is significantly behind compare to the competition imo. They must be working on that. Also, it feels weird to buy v. 5.97. Fells like v6 could be out any day now...

@@MustacheVerra may be you don't know how to do it. You can create chord progression easily and faster ini Reaper at the project level. I have brain disorder. I can't remember about music theory and harmony. I can't work with complicate steps. So I have to make it easily in Reaper.
