The first time I ever heard this song was live. They did it as the finale their set, and as everyone around me was giving a standing ovation, I sat in awe, unable to move, tears rolling down my face. In the years since, it is rare that I don't cry from the beauty, the pain, the longing to worship...to be loved. We certainly are privileged to be able to see and hear such beauty.

I once had front row and center seats to a Punch Brothers show. For the encore, they performed Familiarity unplugged. It was stunningly surreal. There's no way anyone in the back of the theater could hear them the way we did. Still get chills thinking about it. I highly recommend checking out anything and everything Chris Thile and the rest of the Punch Brothers have ever done independently. They're all highly talented musicians.

They did that at the concert I went to also, and I was sitting near the back.😅 Thankfully I have been kind to my ears over the decades and could hear what the folks sitting next to us were complaining they couldn't hear. It was quiet, but it was still a precious experience. Next time I see them, I'll be sure to get tickets early enough to sit close.

This has been my favorite band for nearly 15 years and it makes me unvelievably happy to see people get introduced to their genius. They combination of their passion, creativity, technical skill, and love for music moves me like few other artists can. I hope you will dig more into the Punch Brothers/Chris Thile catalog (on or off channel). And that they change your life like they have changed mine. I've see Chris Thile over 40 times in various groups and/or solo over the last 15 years and there is just nothing like it. I love listening to their recorded music, but the live experience is beyond spiritual for me. A Chris Thile performance is the closest thing to church/a worship service in my life. Final note: Jacob Collier has said that Chris Thile may be the greatest musician alive and I 100% agree.

In 67 years I have never heard a better mandolin player. Absolutely the GOAT. besides that his writing, composing and arrangements are some of the best I’ve heard. His understanding of music theory and what make a melody a melody is off the charts. Possibly the best all around musician alive today.

My favourite musical reactor reacting to my favourite, 10/10! ❤ Truly magical, I wish you could see the smile on my face when it started to really get you! Thank you 🙏🏻 As others have said, you have to see them live. Chris independently as well. A man who's moved like this by music deserves that! Chris broke me within about 5 seconds of coming on stage, I'd longed to hear that tiny little mandolin in his hands for so long and to this day I've never experienced anything quite like it... the guy just exudes musicality in every sense of the word, complete mastery but so very human, the intimacy and sensitivity of it all just beggars belief.

A friend of mine bought me a ticket to see Punch Brothers here in Australia about 8 years ago. I'm a muso and really fussy about what I like. Seriously, half way through the first song my jaw hit the ground...and stayed there. This is the first time I've heard familiarity live, wow that was moving. Thank you brother.

Yes, gratitude to be alive at this time of musical renaissance. Every night I prepare for sleep with Jacob, Chris, Jacob/Chris, Sara Bareilles, and last night added Imogen Heap's Hide and Seek Mahogany Session to the list. I drift off with a smile on my face, a crystal clear mind, and my cheeks damp with tears of wonder. You get it, I know. Thanks

The musicality 😳 🤯!!! Progressive Bluegrass! Rhythmic dotted eights? The lyrics are a perfect dance of realizing that connection can be generated through electronics but we all need that human touch, a coming together for a deeper connection. 🥺 The line "Pretend you love it because you love them" makes my heart happy and sad at the same time. The "We've come together" harmonies were very Beach Boys like. The 6 minor down to the 5 in the really progressive breakdown changes the feel altogether for me. This song has many things that defy music theory and yet it "comes together" perfectly. If I'm hearing right on the defying music theory part. The fade out with the stem they were playing with...is that what I heard? From that point to the end was so intimate. The people in the front row were hanging on the edge of their seats. This was absolutely beautiful!!! Cinematic!!! The shower! 🤣🤣🤣

Saw them in concert last night, and this song was the encore. Absolutely stunning. All of them are amazing musicians (Brittany Haas is now on violin with them). I've seen Chris Thile live many times in his various projects, and the guy is an absolute phenomenon. I think my favorite was a show at SF Jazz, where he played a whole solo show that alternated between bluegrass and Bach. I had a front-row seat. He goes somewhere else when he plays, and it's incredible to watch.

The level of musicianship, artistry, artistic integrity, an beauty is almost too much to bear. I fear this kind of video/music will not garner the metrics to warrant other videos but I appreciate how much you appreciated it. I would encourage you to check out some of their other works. Chris started with a a group called Nickel Creek and their work is *amazing* with fantastic instrumentals, great new grass/pop number of tremendous beauty, wit, and explorations in harmony. Chris also worked with Yo-Yo Ma, Edgar Meyer and other heavy hitters in the classical scene with their "Goat Rodeo Sessions" which while perhaps not as musically accessible as other works are great. Chris is one of those unique talents that as a musician make me want to put down my instrument in despair yet inspires me to pick it up and try and be the best version of myself as an artist.

So, this record and the one before it were Chris Thile gets really into Radiohead and the Punch Brothers were one of the few bands around that actually had the technical training and background to do it. That’s sort of what is going on with this.

Punch Brothers are the equivalent of Tiger Woods in his prime. The best to ever do it. Who can go from Debussy or Bach to Tony Rice to a completely electronic instrumental by Radiohead played only with a classic bluegrass setup like these guys? NOBODY.
