Angelina is a unique young songwriter, when you think about it. Her themes so far are: Life ("What is Life"), Hometown ("Oslo"), Support ("Shield"), Loss ("Million Miles"), and Hope ("7th Heaven"). In my experience, teenage songwriters always write about puppy love (or lack thereof)...but not AJ!

For me it's that "warm embrace from someone safe". That final word totally took me by surprise when I first heard the song. I'm not sure I've ever been blown away by the choice of a *single* word in a song before… As for the "tear that's stealthy in the night", to me it "feels like" she's alluding to some old blues or folk song there (or maybe an old poem or work of prose), but I haven't been able to figure out which one. (Certainly, the phrase "stealthy in the night" shows up in a lot of different places when you Google that exact phrase. It must "come from somewhere".) One allusion that seems pretty clear to me is the "up where the bluebirds fly" line. I would be very surprised if that didn't trace back to "Over the Rainbow".

@@DonaldLancon yes of course “stealthy in the night” is fairly common, and with her “non-standard” pronunciation when I first heard this in a concert version I thought it was “a thief that’s stealthy in the night,” which is more conventional. So I was delighted to learn it was “tear.” She has very sophisticated lyrics in at least three of her originals. Million Miles has the enigmatic “like an empty bubble waiting to be thrown” and 7th Heaven has “7th heaven on my shoulders falls heavy.”

I have waited for a long time for you to check this one out. There are so many things I love about this song. Just the title itself says a lot. With her very first song, she takes on a subject as complex as "what is life?". She not only asks a deep question, but then goes on to answer it in some very wise ways. The things she uses to define life are also very telling about her character. Family, school, music... these are the things she values. And on top of all that, she comes in a sings the song in this old jazzy style that just transports you to another time. It blows me away to think this was published right after she finished 6th grade.

I share your interest to promote AJ in all the ways you do, but I think despite the fullness of your commentary, the world of reactors is too diverse and complex to be deterred by simply encouraging FC Shield members to BOLO or by applying indirect criteria such as you suggest for monetized channels. Without dragging this spiel further. let me conclude by first underscoring your point that most of all, adherence to misappropriating AJ's work depends upon stricter policy and policing by her management in the first instance, and second, clear declaration on part of YT as to what is and is not acceptable. I agree that some reaction videos misuse her work (this channel excepted) and that they do not necessarily expand her fanbase in numbers or type (age) of fan. But I also feel that if RR has the freedom to guide her in breaking new ground, this discussion will be ancient history.

@@barker3903 The post you are talking about from the Shield fan group is probably the most mis-interpreted thing I have ever written. I have nothing against reaction channels. The reaction channel portion of that post was directed at the channels that (at the time) were doing 5-6 angelina reactions a day... every day... in an attempt to gain enough subs to monetize their channels. This was a concern for Angelina's management, and I was just relaying that concern. The primary point I was making with that post (which so many people seemed to miss) was more about the pirate channels not reaction channels. By "pirate channels" I mean channels that are just republishing Angelina's videos as-is.... no reaction, no commentary... just a copy of the video. I'm not sure why everyone has trouble separating the two very different issues, but I suppose I should have been more clear in my writing.

Talk about a "wise child," I read somewhere that she started writing this at 10, finished it at 11, recorded it on her album "It's Magic" with the Norwegian Military Band while still 11, then did this acoustic home version at 12. All while in Elementary School. As a voice teacher, that's got to be impressive. All 3 of my children are excellent musicians & my wife & I attended many performances from 4th grade through college, but we never saw anything like this. She is just 1 of a kind!

Valerie, you speak about spirituality. My goodness, is it possible to think about Angelina without wondering how she has touched so many people's hearts. Her soulful , jazzy voice combined with her persona, so humble, kind and caring lead the way and she seems to sing 'for us'. To us, of course, but for us, as well. Many years ago (when she was 7) after she sang a song a woman came up to her and told Angelina that she made her cry. Angelina apologized but the woman basically told her it was okay. My point being she has been aware since she was very young the affect she has on people and that is what motivates her. To spread the love in her heart to all those who can listen to her and make them feel happy when she sings. Fame, celebrity and money will come to her big time, but I believe they all come in second place to her. First place will always be to touch people's hearts and exchange love with them.

She just has it....Depending on what happens down the track...i believe there will evolve many imitators of her style...but like all great singers....the closest they will ever get is.... imitation..... There was only one Ella Fitzgerald, Shirley Bassey, Barbara Streisand, Diana Ross, Roberta Flack, Arethra Franklin, Amy Winehouse, Whitney Houston , Adele......just to name a few. I have never seen a Angelina divorce her mind from the notes she’s singing, for even a moment; unless there is a long instrumental section, an intermission from singing. Whereas so many people like to compare Angelina to Amy Winehouse, I recently relented and watched a music video and I got the impression that Amy stopped singing at the end of every note. But Angelina is singing from the beginning of this song to the end of the song without a moment’s pause.

I wanted to send a very important message that should be of interest to all angels, and especially for Angelina. I don't know how many of you are aware, or are members of Angelina's patreon. The patreon membership is a way to get some special perks from Angelina like early previews of songs, ability to send her messages, and most importantly to support her in any way we can financially. When Angelina started her patreon over a year ago, she stated her goal was 2,000 members within the year. Not my favorite singer, just not a fan of her style. and the song is just not my cup of tea. As a musician however, I listen to music with two set of ears, my personal, then objective. From a standpoint of fact, her voice is incredible, she has great tone, she also has great control of her range. Her voice is very polished and seasoned. as for the song, it is very well written, the structure is nice, the arrangement is beautiful, the lyrics are very well thought out and good. Overall, like it or not, it's a great song. 10 out of 10, very well done for such a young girl.

It not being my cup of tea, doesn't make it not good. I wish everyone was able to look past their own ego to appreciate things they may not like but are undeniably good. They are both great singers/songwriters which is almost a dying art, they are both story tellers, again, almost a dying art, and they both know what they want to do with their music. To top it off they the only two I know of that have control of their brands, and that is because one huge reason, they have the talent and song writing abilities to do so.

@@joshnelson9764 Thank you for replying. I have listened to Grace on quite a few occasions and there is no doubt she is very talented. I well remember her audition on America's Got talent, and although I didn't like the song, I admired her ability as a songwriter at such a young age. For some reason, though, and I wish I knew why, my ears seem unable to attune themselves to her voice.

These two will change face of music, I for one am excited for these two to carve out their paths and take their places in the history books! The only two music pioneers we have right now, the future of music looks good!
