Okay, this sounds nice. I however, am looking for something a bit more rugged. I ordered 2 watches off of Amazon and they were almost great, the bands were crap and broke after a year though. When I went back into my order history to reorder them, the watch now shown is a completely different one. Anyway, do you have any recommendations for a bulky, men's, outdoorsy, water proof or water resistant tough, talking watch? I've been looking, but I can't seem to find any good descriptions to help me make a final descision.

You should really look into minute repeater watches. they’re not really marketed for the blind but I believe that was the initial intent. Its mostly just amazing they do it with nothing but springs and gears hitting chimes to tell you the time. I Assume you’ve got an extra half million dollars or so laying around.😊

If you live in an area where time signal is poor or not available there are ios and Android apps available that simulate the radio time signal. Place watch against speaker and it picks up electromagnetic radiation from speaker coil. I use ios Clock wave app. Works well. I have found most of the more expensive watches to be good quality, particularly the Atomicradio controlled models. I have had a Lifemax/Five Senses solar radio talking watch for over 10 years.

Not bad, but I wonder what's the point in the cardinal directions? You didn't mention any compass function other than the marks on the bezel. As a fully blind person, I think it would be handy to have a way to read your heading aloud on a talking watch.

Is there anything out there to magnify from the bottom? Example. I’m trying to Diamond paint. It’s a painting with a pored glue grid that is numbered or lettered or symboled to represent a certain colored Diamond. These diamonds/drills are a little bigger then the head of a pin! Magnification from the front is not working for me. Is there a way to magnify something from the bottom?

I’m not sure I fully understand but I think I kind of know what you’re talking about. You would need to rig up some thing DIY style for that. Maybe use a WebCam connected to a television, or something like that.

From the Kickstarter page it says it has a water proof coating but it is not water resistant. You cannot wear it in the shower or in the pool.

I have as my daily driver, the series 5 Apple Watch. The Second generation, SE is a good wearable talking watch, it doesn't have all the bells and whistles, as do the current series 8 and ultra watches. Blood oxygen and a thermometer for body temp important for the ladies keen on tracking their cycle. TMI? :)

Off topic of watches. I’m legally blind with Stargardt’s and would love to start Diamond Painting. I have a CCTV from a long long time ago. Very very old school and heavy. Can I please ask advice on one that’s lighter weight with a big bottom tray that swivels top to bottom and left to right. Also the price point matters as well. I can’t afford $4,000 but maybe I can swing $2,000. Thanks MAYBE the Explore 12 Portable would work great? Thoughts anyone. Any crafters out there with advice. I’ve been looking at Snow 12 which is right in my price range

Kimberly, I do adult coloring and have been very happy with the Aurora HD. It is not portable but the tray does move in all four directions. I think it was about $2,500. It is made by Zoomax.

For this talking watch, the alarm settings can be simple. An alarm and sound selection button should be placed on the watch. The lady should say alarm functions, which will be spoken when the button is pressed. You should then be able to set your alarms to the right times with help of the watch, giving feedback announcements. When you press and hold the button, the lady will state sound selection. You will have four different sound options for the alarms. You can choose from either beeping, cuckoo, rooster, or announcement. The watch for actually state the sound of the alarm by saying the name as you choose from the selection. For example, you should hear sound selection, announcement. Confirm selection. After this, your alarm will be set, and the lady will confirm that by saying normal function. Press the button twice to turn the alarm on or off. When the alarm is on, the lady will stay alarm on, announcement. When the alarm goes off, you will hear your sound that you have selected from the sound selection. When you turn the alarm off, you’ll hear the lady say alarm off, normal function. Normal function means that the watch will go back to the normal Settings, along with your programmed alarm and sound selection. When the lady says, confirm selection, the watchful automatically confirmed the sound that you have selected. This way, the watch will know what sound to play when the alarm goes off, and you were here the lady state the watches alarm sound from the selection.

Other than for looks the compass marks serve no actual purpose. There is no compass mode to tell you which direction you're heading. They're virtually useless to a blind person who can't really see them. Kind of an odd choice.
