Song instantly became one of my favorite performances of all time, well in my 49 years on the planet being a metalhead and general fan of all music. It is so triumphant. The vocal styles complement the lyrics. The "girly" parts as you called it are the vulnerability, the growly parts are the pushing forward with determination. It's such a perfectly crafted song, and the instruments/mix and the performance that was captured here. Very intense, very personal yet relatable. Instant classic.

You can easily detect people with ears and those without. Especially when everyone putting conscious attention to the lead singer, those who listen to a lot of music start to headbang at heavy riffs and snares during heavier parts just naturally, unconsciously, even if they do no dig heavy music.

Is that like documented fact? I've heard people say that but to me it sounds like she's belting that shit, it sound from the diaphragm and throat. When i heard the term fry scream i went and looked up some videos etc. It sounds weak compared to this. This sound like full death growl and throat. Also you seems like her stomach tightens up when she does it. But idk, it could also be the mix that's helping it out. At any rate she's fucking awesome.

Honestly, she's been part of so many projects I lose count, but anything with her, you can't go wrong.

For those wondering her harsh technique is called False Chord. Vocal Fry is a totally different technique with a similar sound. Both have unique characteristics. Also your understanding of harsh styles are a little off. It's not a rasp. The microphone isn't doing as much work as you think. 100% it's as powerful without a microphone. I use Fry screams myself, and utilize false chords here and there. Fry uses very little air, and can be as quiet as a talking level, or as loud as a drunken dumbass in a bar lol. False chords however require a ton of air and really works the diaphragm. Its also the harder of the 2 styles and can easily cause lifelong damage if you rush or do it wrong. Biggest tip: if you feel off, stop for a day or 2.

Valerie, like you, I was extremely surprised by Tatiana's vocals especially the "growls" She does it so effortlessly. I noticed that Tatiana only do growls in segments of the song like taking a break during music before she goes back to her angelic voice.

If you look at some other live versions of different Jinjer songs, you will find in many of them she will switch between growls and cleans, then back again in the same verse...switching sometimes just for a single word or short phrase in a sentence. It's pretty amazing how quickly she can transition from one to the other with no break.

Reactions to Tatiana never get old. I'm wondering what the love/hate percent is for this band. I personally love them, but am a diehard metal fan. How many people are sucked in by her gorgeous singing voice and then turned off by the growl? I disagree with the "her cupping the mike for effect" statement. While true of other singers, Tatiana doesn't do this while performing live, it's just not necessary for her. Great video and reaction!

They put out a lot of good songs. I enjoy the female vocalists in Metal. Years ago the genre did not have a lot of women especially vocalists and I like a lot of the new bands. Tatyana does a lot of growling but also does a lot of clean vocals, it makes for an interesting mix. If you haven't heard of Alissa White-Gluz she does this too in The Agonist. I first heard Panophobia a couple years ago and I typically listen to it once a day since. Really good song. It opens with the growling and as it progresses moves into clean parts too. Intriguing lyrics as well. It's worth a listen just for your own curiosity. Thanks.
