Gary alan I have no idea who bin Jovi is so he shouldn’t even be in your statement as far as prince goes I didn’t even hear about him until 2016 when my older sister mentioned that he had died after watching one award show( maybe the Grammies I’m not sure) but I can say I’ve known mj my whole life I don’t even know a specific moment where I first heard about him, it just feels like I’ve always known him, he is more famous than prince, and you know it, I don’t even care about all those unknown albums you just listed, only purple rain song because I recently searched on the guy , MJs thriller outsells princes whole discography, he is more successful I don’t see little kids dressing like prince nowadays the way they do Mj, prince isn’t that famous, or successful, stop overhyping him. I can name a few today’s artists that are even more successful than him.

When I was younger I was annoyed that Michael didn't give himself more lyrics in this. Now that I'm older I'm so proud he didn't make this about him. When he chimes in though wow chills. Btw interesting tidbits how this all came together. Definitely wouldn't happen again. Can you believe they all met at this studio late in the night after a lot of them had attended an awards show. Just wow

Michael actually wrote the whole song.. LIONEL Richie only input a small jingle in the middle but yet Michael never wanted to take the full credit.. it wasn't his style.. I love how he involved soo many big artists in this song.. but yes the parts MJ sings just sends goosebumps all over... it's soo beautiful and really really points out his voice on a whole other level... I recently watched Adam Levine who has such a wide range of voice and falsetto etc and he seriously struggled singing MJ's Man in The Mirror so it just never stops amazing me exactly all that Michael's voice had/did...

OMG, I was just thinking that!! I was actually watching several reactions of this song/video and thinking of how each person sang in HIS/HER own voice and style. I think it makes the song so damned smart. Another thing that makes the song smart is how Lionel started it, then the duet, then the duet partner had a solo, then a duet, then the next person had a solo, and so on. That was BRILLIANT!!!

Do you believe the stories of two men in their 30s who claim to have only just realised that what Michael had supposedly did to them was abuse? Coincidentally resetting the statute of limitations so they can press charges against a man who can't defend himself. A man who they previously testified for. Do you believe that of all of the children that Michael spent time with, the 2 that claim to have been abused are broke whilst all the others state that nothing ever happened. One claimed to have been abused in a room that has been proven not to have existed at the time he said. If you believe all of this then you probably have a permanent funnel in your mouth so you can continuously swallow all of the shit that the media spouts. I feel sorry for you.

Steve is still recognized as THE VOICE while Bruce is also known as the Boss, Steve had it naturally in him to reach high notes and literally swim through em notes while Bruce was blessed with a smart brain and a touch of art which made him come up with amazing songs and he's an amazing storyteller, second to none but the Poet himself Bob Dylan. The only guy I truly wish was on this album, only to add more gravel and grit to the record, is John Fogerty from CCR yet unfortunately I believe he was still busy dealing with all the lawful and courtly crap which his record company had put him through He would have been an amazing addition to this masterpiece adding his gritty and bluesy voice to this immortal record.

The singer you don’t recognize is the one and only James Ingram. One of my most favourite and popular singers in the 80s. Thank you so much for this video. I am 58 and have a Bachelor of Music from McGill University. Listening to this masterpiece of vocal talent right now was like watching for the first time bringing chills down my spine. It is amazing how an old song can be like new again when not having listened to it in such a long time. Thank you so much again for your musical critique. I have really been listening to Donna Summer of late and would love to hear you critique her superb voice with any one of her many, many songs. All the best, 💕.

I read a couple of amusing stories that you might like, about the making of this video. One was that Stevie Wonder announced that if anyone didn't want to check their ego at the door, he and Ray Charles could drive them home. The other was that the sound engineers heard some strange jingling, clinking sound that they couldn't identify. It turned out to be Cindy Lauper's bracelets.

Michael Jackson is one of the most famous people in this planet's history, and this was him at his peak. If anyone could assemble a cast like this, it was him. He was a celebrity among celebrities. Larger than life. I love Valerie's take here. You can close your eyes and recognize all these artists by voice. They each had their own identity. No one has to tell us 80's kids about diversity, we've been there already. We had it all in the 80's. Listened to everything, all genres. Only then it wasn't called diversity. Simply talent. No one cared what you looked like. Can you sing, write, dance and bring something to the table we don't have already. That was the 80's.

My brother and I was recently talking about the point you were making at the beginning. We were kids in the eighties but we remember enough to know that that was probably the best era for music because there were so many talented, distinctive and very creative people who had their own sound and look and they were mostly seasoned because they spent years cultivating their craft before they made the big time. We loved those eighties artists and didn't give a thought about their ages because we connected with their music, talent and their unique kind of magic. I totally agree that the industry needs to bring back maturer artists who got real talent, uniqueness and magic no matter what their age!

You can see that he sings live because the mic picks up his handclaps and foot pats. He and James Brown were Michael Jackson idols. Michael Jackson acknowledges him when he wins the album of the year for "Thriller" in 1984. Michael Jackson Says "Some people make the path and Jackie Wilson was a great Entertainer". Jackie Wilson influenced Elvis Presley, David Ruffin, Smokey Robinson, James Brown & Michael Jackson. He Was Great Entertainer and Vocalist with a operatic voice. he also did "Baby Workout" in 1965 on Shingding Show.

The amount of talent brought together, the song itself, both musically and lyrics, everyone doing their part without compromising their own style, all the duets just “work”, don’t know why but they’ve all spot on, the whole energy in that room. Just mind blowing. The reason they made this song is very sad, but it’s definitely one of the highlights in music history. And sadly it’ll probably never again bc the music industry killed music. I love how you weren't afraid to call out today's pop music for what it is. The popular opinion is that everyone is entitled to make music how they want, but so many people ignore the blatant quality drop since the early 2000s. So many of today's artists compensate for a lack of musical effort by making the performances more visually "appealing," and for some reason that works. I think this is one of the main reasons older singers aren't as popular anymore: music has become just as much about looks as it is about sound. I used to think I hated pop music, but then I took a course called Popular Music In the US during my first semester at college. That's when I learned the difference between pop music as a genre and pop music as a status, and that changed my whole perspective. I got really excited when you mentioned Twenty One Pilots and how they actually built something musically rather than fishing for a disposable hit. Of all the current bands/singers that I've listened to (and I'll be the first to admit: I mostly listen to music that came out before I was born), they are, in my opinion, the most original. Despite all of this, I don't feel like I was born in the wrong generation. I'm so glad to have the internet so I can listen to hundreds of different artists from all eras. Those who genuinely do like today's pop music should absolutely keep listening to it- no one should be able to decide what music is "good" or "bad"- but I really wish my generation had some legends of its own, y'know?
