Love Jin’s voice so much. I like how his voice is so pure and clear, and he doesn’t use vocal fry which I don’t like much. His vibrato is so natural and unpretentious that I think he’s born with the musical sense and the talent to execute it effortlessly!💜

Thank you for recognizing Jin. He sometimes gets overlooked because of how great everyone in the group is. Jin is a rock star. Many vocal coaches have said that Jin is best suited with rock songs or ballads, but personally I think he can adapt his voice very well to any genre. He has a beautiful head voice, his belting is superb, and his mid-low voice is so warm. In addition to his solo songs, you should check out his covers. He has a very emotive voice. I love his natural vibrato and crystal clear vocals.

I'm not at all saying they don't use any autotune, but I've heard this performance so many times, and I've never heard it sound like this before. It does seem heavily tuned, but every other time I've heard it, its a lot more pure.

It sounds like your speakers have some extra feedback sound, which I imagine must have you thinking they are using autotune when they are not. I’m hearing an echo that I haven’t heard on many other reactors sites to this tiny desk concert.

Headphones or speakers, definitely a significant amount of autotune. I'm not saying they can't sing (obviously that is not true) I just wish I didn't have so much on there. When you're listening you can hear a glitchy kind of sound on the vocals, that sound is autotune. If you're interested in what sound I'm talking about or would like me to do a quick video demonstrating autotune flick back a comment and I'll get on that. Alternately I'm sure there are already autotune videos out there, it just depends how much autotune you put on it in regards to how subtle or obvious it is as a sound. It's also in Jimins set me free pt2 track in the beginning, not so much later on but the initial part of the song.😊 I'd still love to hear BTS raw one day, as in with no effects on, doing a ballad. I'd enjoy that so much.

It is very very different!!!! I had to stop watching when I got to 'save me' because the whole echo thing ruined the song!!!

I have to agree I’ve never heard any other reactions with this amount of reverb on their reaction videos. I’ve never heard anyone say they’re using auto tune on this performance either.

@@vtstudio173I don’t know what’s going on with your sound - what you’re hearing - but this sound coming from your reaction is different than others…echoey/tinnier. The boys will use backing tracks when they sing live but they use auto tune sparingly. As for Jimin’s SMFP2, the auto tune used is stylistic…it expresses the angry/aggressive parts of the song.

for jk's raspy voice it's because dis uses a chest voice I think, because he often uses a headvoice in singing so when singing live and with a fast tempo his chest voice His raspy voice was getting louder

I've never heard this particular performance have as much autotune as it does here and I've watched it A LOT, not sure why you're experiencing this since it's definitely not normal. I'm not saying they don't use autotune, but this is so extra.

저도 동의합니다. 이 영상은 음향이 전체적으로 변질되었습니다. 노래부분이 아닌 말하는 부분까지도 울림이 있어요. 정상적인 영상이 아닙니다. 정상영상을 몇번이고 봐왔고 그것과 비교했을때 이분의 영상속의 노래는 울려서 들립니다. 이것을 항의해 보았지만 그저 본인은 영상을 변형하지 않았다고만 하네요. 영상속에서 본인의 목소리는 전혀 울림이 없이 녹화되었습니다. Bts 의 영상만이 울림이 있게 녹화되었는데도 전혀 이상이 없다고 답변하네요. 이분은 본인의 경험이 많아서 오토툰을 정확하게 안다고 하지만 아미가 이 영상본 횟수보다 많을지 의문입니다. 참으로 이상한 경우입니다. 귀가 있다면 이영상속의 노래가 울려서 들린다는것은 전문가가 아니고 아미도 아닌 일반인도 들으면 다 알거라고 생각합니다. 이분이 bts 가 오토튠을 쓴다 라고 비방하기 위해 이영상을 찍었다고 생각하지 않습니다. 그렇지만 적절하지 못한 변형된 영상을 선택해서 녹화하고서는 오해의소지가 있을 수 있는 내용을 말하고 있네요. 정정해 주었스면 좋겠습니다만 그럴것 같지 않군요.

You explain things very nicely, or at least as someone with no singing knowledge, your explanations are very interesting to listen to 😄. I think someone already recommended Jin's "Epiphany" and "Astronaut", and RM's Tiny Desk, so for other nice live BTS performances, "Your Eyes Tell", and "Home" (jimmy Fallon's live one) are some of my favorites. Edit: Also, J-Hope sings a bit in his recent song "Equal Sign" if you're interested in more of that too.

I would definitely recommend listening to a Studio recording of the songs before a live performance, you can then compare what sounds they were going for which I think will enrich your experience and give a well rounded picture. In almost all their songs they have a specific vocal style in mind that matches the genre of the song. In behind the scenes they very deliberately focus on even the tiniest details in how they sing a phrase etc. Dynamite is an electro-funk disco pop track reminiscent of the 70’s hence the vocals are matched to that style. Which is why a little auto-tune is used stylistically and not in other songs here. In terms of JK, people often mistakenly think there is auto-tune even when there is not too. (There is a little on this song) While I love all four vocal line members and think they are all talented, they differ in strengths and weakness. While JK is not my vocal bias even I comfortably recognise that in the whole group he is technically, the most stable vocalist and the strongest vocalist. (He is also the only one included in Rolling Stones top 100 best singers in the world) He often helps the other vocalist a lot with their technique too. Jimin is super good at high notes and his head voice and falsetto’s. etc but is very limited in range. He also used to struggle a lot with singing out of tune or his voice cracking in performances but he worked very very hard on that. Jin is super good at high notes and ballads too but again he is better at the higher range. He used to struggle vocally in their early days but considering he had no singing experience before Joining BTS, his improvement has been astonishing. He definitely worked hard and improved with each concert. Tae (V) has the widest range in the group and is also included in top best baritone singers in pop lists. The lowest and highest notes recorded in the group are by him. He is naturally a baritone (the only baritone in kpop) but he sings in the higher register for the majority of the time. Often his falsettos and head voice are mistakenly thought to be other members with those who are not familiar with his voice and even some who have been army for a while. He started with a natural talent and when he is on his game he is phenomenal and in my personal opinion comfortably the best singer but he has been unstable periodically depending on his health etc and has had off days during concerts. I would say he has gotten vocally much more stable in recent years. The whole vocal line has continued to improve and I think that’s something that rarely tends to happen. In terms of Tae’s singing style, he has a wider throat and his tongue placement when he sings is unusual. It is something that in his pre-debut days they wanted to get him to correct and he used to be scolded for but later on realised that it was actually a strength in giving him a unique voice. He has often been praised for his soulful voice and making people feel something when he sings. In terms of Bangtan (that’s BTS) style, in almost all the the songs they are catered towards the vocal line members with the highest pitch. That’s almost always Jimin and sometimes Jin. You often hear the Rapline and Tae especially cutely complain in interviews or behind the scenes footage that the songs sometimes go up by 4 keys etc to suit Jimin’s voice or they cutely joke about complaining to Jimin. So Bangtan songs are normally suited to his singing style. Hobi (J-hope while primarily a rapper along with Yoongi (Suga) and Namjoon (RM))) often provides a lower singing register in the background vocals. Again his contributions are mostly missed. I recommend their performance of Coldplay’s Fix you where all the Rapline sing too, to see their ability. Jin and Tae almost always shine the brightest out of the vocal line in their Japanese songs so I also recommend them if you want to hear more Jin. They tend to be more vocal-line lead. Since you asked about Jin, Awake and Epiphany are ballads I would recommend, I also recommend Abyss his OST. Moon is a great fun song by him if you wanna hear something a bit upbeat. The Astronaut by him is also beautiful but he very specifically chose to sing outside of his comfort register to match Coldplays style (Coldplay gifted the song to him). You are entitled to your opinion. Based on your other comments, I have an idea which place your comments come from and what motivates them. Professional opera singers and other vocal coaches seem to respectfully disagree with your assessment on Tae’s voice. In regards to Tae’s vocal range. It is a fact that the highest and lowest notes in BTS are from Tae. For reference Taehyung’s Range: Eb2-Eb6/Eb2 - D6 (3 octaves, 5 notes, and 1 semitone) Supported: C3-C4/C#4

RM, J-Hope, and Suga are primarily rappers, so you will not hear a lot of them singing. Although they do sing in some of the videos.

If you really want to hear a great song for their vocals you should react to the cover of Coldplay's Fix You. They do sometimes sing over a backing track especially in their heavily choreographed live performances but they rarely use autotune or pitch control on their live mics. Is there any way you can fix your own audio because we were getting an echo throughout the whole performance which sounds like it's coming on a direct feed as well as through your microphone and there's a slight delay giving an echo. Might just be me, but for some reason there is some weird reverb or sth on the video in the reaction here that is not present when i watch the original Tiny Desk Performance. 🤔 It is especially noticeable when they talk but also much affects how the singing and the autotune sounds. Not sure if this happened due to how the reaction was recorded and/or processed or if this was the sound you actually reacted to? (which would be a bit of a shame because the original video sounds a lot cleaner and less robot-y to me (there is ofc some autotune/pitch correction but it doesnt jump at you quite as much as I feel it does here in the video embedded in the reaction)) Also, for me coming mainly from Rock/Metal, it was interesting to see the take on JK's vocal constriction/fry/grit...I never even questioned him using it as a stylistic choice/just because he felt like it. I'm so used to people adding and removing grit to/from their voice by choice/skill I just thought "oh cool, nice that he can do that a bit, I like" 😄

Sorry about the sound! It may be an issue my end for sure. When I recorded this is was from the tiny desk version on KZbin, so that is what I'm analysing. Grit and rasp can be added by choice, but vocal constriction is not normally a controllable sound. Simply our false vocal folds causing obstruction as we enlongate our folds to get higher pitches, though it can happen on any pitch. 😊

Jin "Astronaut" is melody by Cold Play, Korean lyrics by Jin. The live performance with Cold Play in Brazil is brilliant. The MV is really good. It's 2023 so represents his growth as a vocalist. I agree with you, he is built to be a ballad singer. ASA Vlogs has a good list of all their solo work within and outside of BTS. J-Hope just released a song with J Cole "On The Street". It's J-Hope's melodic rap and fun to watch because J-Hope was originally a street dancer, learned rap when he was recruited by the agency. The running explanation of J-Hope is he has no bones because of the way he moves. PS Great job analyzing their vocals and explaining autotune.

Jimin and JHope are my fave duo but all the members are insanely talented. You really can't go wrong in picking a bias if you choose to. There is no shame in it IMO as long as you aren't bashing other members in the name of your bias. Jimin is not my bias because I think he is the strongest vocalist. He is my bias because I love how unique his voice is and he is so great at conveying emotions in his dance and vocals. As soon as I discovered BTS he stood out to me. JHope singing rap style and swag also stands out to me but I could go one about each members strengths if you let me. 😊 Looking forward to more BTS reactions! Sometimes solo stans can get rude, but don't pay no mind to them. You just do you. As long as you give your opinions respectfully, I'm here for it. 💜

yeah you have an echo on their audio/the tiny desk video audio and it's noticeable and a bit distracting. i don't know if it's because of the way your recorded your audio? but there's a double layer/echo on this that isn't on the original video or on other reaction videos. dynamite has some autotune for artistic choice but it's not pitch-correcting i like all your technical comments about singing technique

Its a tiny desk concert version people wanted me to react to. I haven't altered their song in any way. There is a lot of auto tune. I have been recording for a long time, anyone with any studio/production experience can hear this. It's not meant to cause controversy. It's just how it is 🤷 I'm not a voice teacher that will sugar coat things because then no one can learn or understand what I'm talking about when I'm doing vocal analysis. I know they can all sing well so I'm not saying they can't sing without auto tune, I specifically said, I wish I could hear them more instead of the autotune. 😊

Jungkooks vocals are great indeed and are extremely well balanced. He does have more of a typical pop tone to his singing. I think V and Jimin have the most recognizable voices because they hold a very different tone and placement in their vocal tract. I wasn't trying to say who's better than the other. They all have their strengths, like all singers do.

Streams on TikTok, and yeah, his voice is great, but when he's singing those live streams he's not singing at his fullest, he's not using his breath capacity they way he does when he performs live so it's not an accurate way for me to analyze his vocals. I think I'm going to make this week the guys of BTS react week seeing as so much is coming out, but the only two songs I know of Jungkook's are dreamer? And the one he did with Charlie Puth, which I loved. If there's any of his solo work more recently I'd love to hear it and do a react for you, if you'd like my honest and professional opinion of his vocals. (Don't worry, he's a great singer, I'm not going to try to pull him or anyone else down.) 😅
