Vintage and amazing Journey live! This is Feeling that Way and Anytime and it's perfect!!
Doesn't get too much better than this. You'll see!
In this Steve Perry is complimented with some great vocals by Gregg Rolie (who I always thought was great in the band) and it's a great vocal pair. (-:

I was lucky to see Journey live every year from 79-82 through my high school years. The Midnight Special was great for music, but they got vagrants off the streets of LA to fill the audience - so of course they were drugged out and sleepy

Yep and Steve later said on The Big Interview with Dan Rather he lived Sam Rather and how he used reverb to sing back to himself. He cited that as one of his major influences. He recalled a story where he heard Sam Cooke on the radio while driving with his mom in a convertible and it was one of those "tunnel vision" moments where all could he hear was the song.

Thank you Arnel the RESCUER of JOURNEY @came from a 3rd world country the Philippines And even Steve Perry admitted that arnel is much more fitted in the band after him. We thankful for arnel and from his mouth himself that he stepped down anytime if his replacement is his idol steve perry. What a humble & good heart❤ Arnel Pineda. My humble opinion.

Gregg is back with Neal and they played most of the stuff from the first 3 albums, as well as some from their Pop time. Have the drummer who was in Journey post Steve, that sounds damn close to Steve so this song and ANytime etc. are damn good. They went out on a mini tour in 2019 just before COVID hit.

The first time I heard Steve Perry’s voice was when “Feeling that Way” came on the radio. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. It was so exquisite; if what other vocalists did was called singing, then there had to be another verb for what Steve could do with his voice. I was disappointed when Gregg Rolie left, he is so much better than Jonathan Cain.
@noezrider6361
@noezrider6361 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah but......., if there was no Cain, then Journey would never had the songs and sound that brought so much fame in/from the 80's, and a catalog that is still relevant. Cain doesn't get the credit he deserves, but he and Perry together were incredible.

FYI, when Steve joined Journey, I read that everyone else in the band had to take vocal lessons so they could get their harmonies right to keep up with Steve. I also heard that Steve ended up adding more of his vocals for the background parts in the studio because he could get better takes one after another. He's a perfectionist.

About that playing the same as on the record: you can experience the same thing with Nightwish live. They play it almost precisely as on CD. It´s unbelievable. Of course some people find it boring, but there are songs that they can do differently, as Highlander for example. But majority is like a CD, and I find it amazing.

I recommend reacting to a band called Heilung. The specific song is “Krigsgaldr.” They have an entire live show about 1.5 hours long, and it’s totally worth the time to watch the show; but that one song, for the sake of a KZbin recording, will do. Just be sure to watch the show afterwards. You won’t be disappointed.

If you want to hear a unique Jon Anderson vocal, go to Gowan's "Moonlight Desire". Jon was in the next recording studio, wandered in, loved Gowan's vocals and asked, hey Mate want some company? Then they were going to make the Video at the Pyramids of the Moon and Sun in Mexico, and Jon said I am all in. He dressed in Mayan Worship dress, and face paint, making the Video with its amazing location a Massive hit, well in Canada anyway. No idea who they greased to be able to use the Pyramid area, as it is usually off limits.

Great choice of Journey songs! Whenever somebody asks me what my favorite Journey songs are, these two are clearly at the top. As others have suggested, reviewing Boston's Brad Delp would be a treat. In fact, I believe you can get his vocal track only for More Than a Feeling on KZbin - it's a real treat. Thanks!

I know you put this up a few years ago, but I loved both your enthusiasm of Journey and Midnight Special! Journey/Steve Perry my absolute favorite rock of all time. But let me feed you some trivia on The Midnight Special. The first one was for a sorta “Rock the Vote” Special that was hosted by my very favorite singer of all time since I was 7 years old John Denver. And it was a great success and continued for years after that. But I do agree ... the audiences sucks 😂 for ROCK 😂 But the very first one is on KZbin in its entirety and about 10 Acts are on of all music - folk, funk, rock, soul

Funny you say that about vowels… Mr. Perry is Portuguese & recorded a song for his mother in his first language. In an interview a pile of years ago he was asked if it was more difficult to sing in another language & he said it was a little easier singing in Portuguese because European vowels tend to be more extended than English. He also didn’t think he’d ever release it, so we may never get to hear him singing in anything but English. However, if you’re in CA & have any musical connections, perhaps you can find someone to convince him to goof around with an old Journey track in his home studio & redo his vocals in Portuguese. That would be cool to hear! Glad I found your channel. 👍🏼

The keyboard player was Greg Rollins Aynlsey Dunbar on Drums Ross Valery on bass Neil Saen on Lead Guitar Steve Perry on Lead Vocal. Shortly after, Steve Perry joined the tensions and grew to a boil, which put him at add Ansley Dunbar. It was a tough decision the band voted Ansley out. Then he replaced by Montrose Drummer Steve Smith. That's when they entered the studio and created the album Infinity. With Steve Perry on zlead vocals, Ross Valerie Bass Neil Sean on Lead Gituar Steve Smith on Drums Greg Rollie on Key board. It was on after the album Departure. That Gregg Rolie left the band. He then replaced the keyboard player of the baby's Johnathan Cain. That was the lineup for yesterday that made musical megga starts
