Hey Derek, So we face Houston again for 3 more games tomorrow. Let’s not mess around and end their season NOW. Then all we gotta do is get Cole back and coast to the playoffs for the rest of the season.

I think Gil's innings cap(fully believe he's got one despite what the team says)will hurt his chances. And Soto is someone you give a blank check to. 25, just entering his prime, durable, and a bat that will age well even when he can't field anymore. Spencer Jones isn't exactly forcing the issue yet and I'd actually sell high on him if he was dominating in AA.

Luis Gil DEFINITELY ROOKIE OF THE YEAR! dude throws smoke! unreal what he has been doing on the mound as young as he is
@urbangorilla334 ай бұрын
If Luis Gil finishes with a sub-2.00 ERA and 15 wins, with a no-hitter to boot, he WILL win Rookie of the Year. As for Spencer Jones, he's hitting .250 with 2 HRs in 68 AB, so at that pace I don't see him in the bigs too soon.

@@urbangorilla33 he’s on a innings limit so it’s a fact he’ll be in the bullpen after 100-110 innings. Boone has already came out and spoke on this at the beginning of the season

How will they fit soto longterm though? The OF logjam is real. Jdom, spencer jones...judge...soto. am i missing something? So who goes to LF?
@PinstripeTerritory4 ай бұрын
There's been a lot of talk about Judge shifting to 1B to protect the toe / health long term. LF - Dominguez, CF - Jones, RF - Soto, 1B - Judge

I'm a Yankees fan but all Yankees fans need to abandon all hope of resigning Soto. Soto is going to want 15 years at $50 million per year; $750 million total. The Mets will give it to him. The Dodgers might give it to him. The Yankees should not. They already have the Stanton, Judge, Cole and Rodon contracts hamstringing their payroll. Corbin Burnes is a free agent next year. That should be the target.

Yeah, let’s not sign the generationally talented 26-year old left-handed hitter… let’s sign an over-30 RHP with declining Statcast numbers. My eyes are rolling so hard I can see my own cerebellum

It is certainly doable if the Yankees develop some internal options to save money. And starting pitching is a center of strength right now given the team's performance and how their AAA rotation has stepped up. They will need bullpen rebuilding, but I trust their ability to cobble things together...
@rickdiaz36574 ай бұрын
When Juan Soto is 31 years old, Stanton and Rodon will probably no longer be on the team, and Soto will still be able to play for about 8 more years.
@johnpaladino63394 ай бұрын
Also guys with elite control of the strike zone age much better than guys that don’t. Soto’s contract will be the least of the Yankees worries for at least the next 10 years
