Hi..In my last eMTB build video i had been given a FREE GT i-Drive full suspension MTB frame SO i half built it to hit 2 problems !! So ive built a GIANT Revel hardtail 48v 1000w eMTB & take it for a test ride...
Budget : £100 2nd hand Giant Revel MTB / £170 1000w Voilamart eBike conversion kit (eBay UK) / £200 48v 13ah Battery (eBay UK) - Thats a total of £470 GBP 💰
Its been a learning curve from starting in Dec 2O19 so join me on more builds/rides & consider subscribing to follow me on a journey into the world of DIY electric mountain bikes & who knows where this will lead ? As electric transport is the future !!

Just did my first e-bike build; bought a used kit from a guy that had already built them for his family, had an extra two kits, and 1 battery seling all for $300... turned out one of the controllers was bad; he only had 1 set of brake handles and one Pedal Assist - so it wasn't exactly "TWO" kits (two motorized rear wheels, complete, 2 throttles, one controller, one set brake handles, 1 Pedal assist). He threw in the bike (Walmart Special $199 Mongoose Mag Wheel Mountain Bike) and gave it all to me for $250 (Voilamart 1000 W / 48 Volt Rear hub motor). Got her together today and spent a bit of time adjusting the back brake (which I'm still not happy with) - but my FAVORITE part of your video there, is that first stop going down the hill crossing the road after the cemetery, where you sound like a "trash truck" coming to a stop, LOL... Hi Timothy - Sounds like you got a good deal there mate - Haha the brakes squealed bad but ive sorted them - Was a easy fix just needed aligning..Thanks for watching 😀

Good Paul you have got it going👍Most 48v 1000w kits come with 24 or 26 amp controller it tells you on the sticker and wont get you up the hills no matter what you set your amp draw it can only draw what the battery can give.I use 30 & 35 amp most 48v batteries have 30 amp bms to handle that draw for full 1000w for my 1500w motor is pulling 1700w with 35 amp controller & 52v 40 amp bms battery uphills.

Hi Peter - yes i had a 2000w & that couldnt get uphill with the throttle as well - i think you would need 3000w+ (next project?) cheers for the info mate 👍👍

Just found your channel, loving your vids mate👍. Can I ask a question I've got a 2022 giant talon hardtail 11 speed, do you know if I can fit a rear wheel motor with a 7 speed hub and cassette to my 11 speed without modifying or replacing the derailleur or chain etc ? You can't currently buy a rear hub kit with more than a 9 gear hub.

Hi Thanks for watching my videos ⚡You can buy a motor with the correct dropout size & swap cassettes over - So take off the 7 speed cassette & fit your 11 speed..Otherwise its change the rear mech & shifters which isnt that dear to do...Hope this helps mate

@@paulleeFLOW Hi Paul thanks for getting back to me,I will look into that but I have a feeling the 11 speed cassette will be too large for the ehub rear wheel I'm looking at. If this is the case then I'm hoping I can just fit the standard 7 speed it comes with into my bike but I'm struggling to get a definitive answer which I need before I pull the trigger on the kit which isn't cheap. Fitted cheap 1000w kit to my full sus bike , it does 26mph on flat, hills are ok if I pedal too. I didn't fit the pedal sensors as I dont want full power when pedaling all the time but I do wonder if it would actually give more power with pedal assist sensor or if throttle is same anyway. I often just ride onmy own power and only use throttle for a boost or up the hills.

Hi @nigelsheffield - I couldnt get my PAS to work but reading on the Voilamart FB group its not very good anyway & some people say its dangerous as it hits full power straight away !! This is only on the Voilamart kits though & i cant speak for any other brands as not used any others..I enjoyed just the throttle anyway & throttle/pedalling got me uphill fast..Thanks for watching...

Hi wondering if you can help me I have the same kit on mine as soon as it goes over about 30mph the motor starts vibrating every time I built one a few years ago and don’t think that one did it it doesn’t do it if you lift the back wheel up and test at full throttle just when your riding it. Do you know if yours does the same? Thanks

Hi Sam - I sold this EMTB a few years back so im not to sure of a answer for you - motors do vibrate/make a noise when using them BUT this depends on how loud yours is??..This may sound daft but have u checked everything is tight ie screws/spokes/rim's straight etc...

The power wires from my integrated 1500w motor are 14 gauge but the battery ones are probably 10 gauge.I'm gonna use Anderson connectors.Is it a problem?My battery is triangular 52v 20ah unit pack power.

Hi - This was a 26" wheel MTB anyway so it was just a simple swap BUT yeah 27.5 front 26 back is a good combination..They used to use them like that years ago (smaller back wheel) & it looks like its making a comeback - Do they call them MULLET bikes or am i wrong?dunno hahah - Thanks for watching 🤟

You will find it you put a oversize rear tyre (that fits gap in frame) there wont be actually much different in the bikes position/levels etc..

Uphill you have to pedal & the quickest this bikes been is around 30mph on a long road heading downhill with a 48v 16ah battery - Hope this helps & thanks for watching...

I tried going uphill only using throttle on my 1000w bike it done the same as yours but if you use pedal assist it flies up the hill

OneMan OneDog when I done top speed I went in a local dual carriageway,with 1000w it takes a bit of time to reach max speed and long road ,as it doesn’t have the torque of powerful motors to accelerate to max speed quickly

Hi - The Emtb will reach 30mph but you need a longer road - 1000w kits aren't sheer power & not very good uphill without pedalling !! Thanks for watching...

Oh so do the amp hours on the battery no matter when it comes to speed like say I have a 48v battery but it only 14ah would it stills hit 30mph or would I need 48v 20ah battery for that?

Hi - No the amp hours does how long you can ride for (distance) if you want it faster you use 52v or higher & a controller that can handle higher volts - Hope this helps...

People kick gravestones over & drink alcohol & leave all their cans there - What harm am i doing riding through ? So thats why the FUCK im in a graveyard & not "ON' a graveyard - Learn english !!!
