If you don't have fun at a Volbeat show, you most really need help hehe. They're so much fun.

Seen them 3 times, can confirm they are a blast. I saw them Open for Metallica back in 2017 and ended up getting their entire discography after that hahaha

I love the surf rock vibes with the chorus effect on that guitar

You need to listen to Sorry Sack of Bones for the surfer vibe from Volbeat.

That spoken part after the intro is a reference to Elvis. In an early Sun Records recording before becoming huge, he said that in a song after stopping the band and picking up the tempo, just like Volbeat did here. I think it “Milkcow’s Calf Blues”, or something like that.

Found it; it's Milkcow Blues Boogie. That's really cool! I figured it was inspired by Elvis, but didn't know it was a direct pull.

Good start to the day! This is a really fun one, though with a darker undertone. I love how Michael reflects both in his vocals, even getting a bit theatrical with it. Though they've had rockabilly influence from the beginning, the band dipped into what I think of as the surf-rock sound within their seventh album. I'm really glad they continued it with a couple of songs on this album, and I think this song is the strongest of the now three total. I had actually thought of the intro/outro as 6/8, but the way you described it makes more sense. A solo would've been interesting, though probably short. And not having one helps distinguish the song from what's right before and after it on the album.

The musical vibrations of this track immersed me in the atmosphere of the sound of depeche mode's Personal Jesus. There were moments when the sound of the guitar echoed the playing of Martin Gore when performing Personal Jesus. Although, of course, these are different genres, and the similarity here is very relative. I wonder if it came to me alone as a very free cover of the song Personal Jesus, or am I not alone in this feeling?

Heard this song live last Friday, was good even though Michael the singer was sick.

This song reminds me of the guy Voltaire (did the song Death Death Evil Evil Song) but heavier.

would you consider volbeat as having a very technical side?
@THEDavidHeretic Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say "very", but they are solid technicians.
@V3x0r Жыл бұрын
@@THEDavidHeretic I'm not so sure, Rob taking over lead guitar a few albums back really upped their technical game. Sadly he departed the band after this album release.
