Had the same setup but stock style gears, 32mm venturies, 9 lb flywheel and compufire dis-ix ignition system. Pulled to 8k light to light it was quick but lacked torque for everyday use but it was probably due to the flywheel

@V8N8T kinna like a throw back motor. I personally like a loud valve train. I ran this setup before with stock heads , stock flywheel. Interested how goin be with Heads, lightend flywheel...🤙 32 vents sounds like a good idea.

I rebuilt a motor for a friend that had chewed the thrust clean off the cam bearing, i think someone had thrown it together with mis matched cam gears so it was putting huge load on the bearing.

Bruh! I'm trying to learn. There is a lot of terms you use that some people may not know what you mean. Also why do you want the compression so high?! Please explain. What is stock compression? I think I have a 1641 case with CB044 heads and dual 34s. I want to rebuild my engine. But I don't want to buy a new case cuz they cost $1k!!!. I want to try and reuse my single relief case it's from a 1967 bug. Any advise? I was thinking of going with a bigger crank and a slighty bigger cam. I also have a brand new set of scat solid rockers but I think they are 1:1. I want to try and rebuild myself. I am in San Diego. I might need a line bore, but I'm sure there are places here that can do it. Your videos are great. I am trying to learn about engines. My bus has NO power and I had Rancho rebuild my tranny to make it a freeway flyer.
@volkstroke16 күн бұрын
Okay so the compression is matched to the cam shaft and the cam and heads are chosen to the derided RPM range so with the power I’m looking for it’s only right to attempt to run the compression at that also my gearing is matched to help it The fuel now days has ethanol and higher compression isn’t an issue now days on your case if you have tall gears and a heavy bus I wouldn’t do it although I have done it but not on 044- only on 500s that cool better I have done many many engines over the years and I do my combos based on past experiences and every one I build I try something different to learn from the combo not all work great but when they don’t i tare them down and address the issue until I get the performance I need or want Brothers machine shop can do it your alignbore Also o have used those single release blocks they’re finer there is nothing wrong with them brothers can even make the oil gallery bigger of it has the small ones and plug it up and bore your case and heads to take bigger pistons and cylinders Or clearance your case to take a bigger crank

@@volkstroke Hell yeah bro, that sick. Thanks for all the info. Brothers is up in LA somewhere que no? If it's worth it I will make the drive though. As long as its good quality work at the right price. Do they also do the Hoover mod to the oil passages? Or do I even need that on a single relief case if I'm looking to do a 1904 build or even keeping it 1641? I'm thinking of trying do my first build. I've never done the bottom end just the top end.
@volkstroke15 күн бұрын
@ they can do whatever and idk about no the samba theory or mods we just do them normal or bypass but they live if built right that’s the o trying that matters
@SanDiego_VDubLife15 күн бұрын
@@volkstroke Hell yeah bro. gracias. Hoover mod is when they drill an oil passage all the way through the case to allow oil to pass through all the lifter bores. Or something like that I forgot, but I know it creates an oil passage that extends the stock one. Oh actually I think it connects the all three oil passages on the cam bearing seats.

@@volkstroke I say 90-100. I did a 1641 back in the 70's. I had no idea the hp but it ran pretty good. I could accelerate up hills in 4th gear. Was impressive for the day. I didn't have a 8 dowel pin crankshaft or flywheel but the guy I bought all my parts from lent me a jig to drill 8 pin holes after I ripped 2 flywheels off and ruined 2 crankshafts. 🧐😳
