Hi, I got also a mild 1914cc. on strange kind of heads - 40x37.5 043 castings. A Scat Mini -D probably or something similar. The rest of the motor is pretty normal - Scat C35 cam on 1:1.1 rockers and HD springs plus chineese, but good 44IDF clones and a 1 5/8 merged header. C/R around 9:1. Rest of the combo is the shortest stock 1302 transmision (4.375) and 26 inch rear wheel (165SR15 F560) I want to build a 2276 in the future, but I wonder what can I do to this particular engine during the winter season without breaking a bank. I've read (on the Lounge probly) that a C35 is a symmetrical cam and does not work well with those valve proportions. Sooo... What do you think can I do in your opinion to this setup to take the most out of it - keeping in mind that 40mm intake valves and those 44IDF will have to stay for now - coz investing in this engine big bucks doesn't make sense as there is a completely new one in plans. Does swapping the intake rockers for 1.25 or even 1.3 plus on the intake valves only plus Double springs - and bumping the compression just a notch are going to make a difference? What do you think? The last resort would be swapping a cam, but I don't know what I would find inside after opening the case :)

These heads are massive ports and runners they have made 240 on bigger cracks Cam rockers and compression is the key along with big flow
@JohnnyRebLifestyle2 ай бұрын
@@volkstroke Thanks! So if I take em out for boring out for comp and bigger springs seats and they happen to be cracked between valve seats - it makes sense to repair them? Coz I already got em, and bringing a really good set of heads here to Poland means really big bucks...

In my day, the 1914 had a notorious and unsavory reputation among built Volkswagen engines. 1835 or 2110/2180 was all pretty much anybody did.

It’s just a bored out 1776. Not good with a stock crank.

The rule with 1914s is don’t run them too hard for TOO long because they will get hot. Thin cylinder walls. 1904 was always better with the bigger crank.

I love 1914cc. The cylinders today are thicker than the earlier ones. 94 and 92 cylinders are much thicker than they used to be. For a street bug with a German doghouse shroud and moderate compression ratio the 1915 is a good option. If you run above 8.5 to 1 compression in hot weather, may require additional oil cooler 🙂
