Since when did 1970 Bugs have fuel injection and a throttle body as well as duel pott heads,I have a 1970 bug with single port and carbureted

That is a 1600 cc mexican bug engine they started to build it un 1993 the fi sistem is call digifant it was un production Ford 10 years , good engine bye the way.

The rust is obvious. VW did not use aluminium for pistons and cylinders in this generation of beetles and don't know if they ever switched.

I don’t know if you’ve ever rebuilt one of these engines but, in this case one of the cylinders and pistons is not reusable, when replacing a cylinder and piston it is best if you replace them all to hopefully keep the compression the same across the engine. The case is usually sent off and deep cleaned and brought back to a factory appearance, thus giving the appearance of new casings. The heads often crack when you remove them making it necessary to replace them. On my builds I always replace the OEM hardware with ARP bolts which can hold more torque without breaking. VW air cooled engines are shrouded in sheet metal in an attempt to duct air around the cylinders to cool the engine, VW did not paint the shrouds properly and the majority of them rusted out making it much easier and cheaper to just replace them.
