You were the MVP of the stream imo. Only thing that confused me is that you made a great point that Ussop has been pushed to the back so that he can hopefully shine in Elbaf, but then you were so against Jay when he came later and said a similar thing. Hope you get invited again.

@ thank you, that’s sweet. I loved talking with such knowledgeable, intelligent humans all nerding out with joy! I feel like there is a clear distinction between how Jay and I see Usopp’s journey. While we both agree he has not been used to his best, I believe we differ with intent. I felt like Jay sees Usopp as having been done a little dirty since Dressrosa, because he hasn’t had an opportunity to shine in a uniquely Usopp way. Whereas I feel like his character development has been very deliberate. Oda is being careful not to pull Usopp out from that “Everyman” role, because he knows what he has in Usopp. If Usopp had suddenly switched to a fully actualized character it would have plucked the charm from him. We wouldn’t have that underdog relatable character who we all are dreaming of seeing “glow up”. I believe Oda, a man who has woven barely visible threads of intricacies and foreshadowing for over 27 years knows exactly how to play this. So though we both agree on many points, we seem to disagree with intention. I would have got into this, but I felt we had reached a saturation on the topic where ideas were becoming entrenched. And it was time to move forward into fresh ideas.

I can’t say enough about how much I enjoyed this Reverie. I’ve been watching you guys since the first episode of your One Piece reactions and to see the growth you guys have been on as creators has been eye-opening to me. You’re both passionate, smart, and super hard workers. Time and time again, you guys are able to make something out of nothing and it is inspiring. You talk to people as if they’re people and I think everyone at this reverie specifically appreciates that. Being a presenter or performer, it is very easy to build a wall up and focus on your own creations or performances, but you guys are sincerely interested in the perspectives of people around you and I really appreciate that. Volume One always feels like a genuine place online to let loose, laugh at ourselves, laugh at others (like Josh), and be passionate about the things we love even if anyone has something to say about it. My one regret this stream is that I started crashing half-way though and was running on half-brain power in the chat. I hope I was able to give enough energy and support because you guys deserve it. The thing that sucks about having a more requiring life is we cant watch as much content as we used to, but every year its the one time where it feels like the old days, and its always refreshing to see new faces carrying the torch of greatness while supporting each other. Shout out to the mods for doing an excellent job especially given the duration, and yalI eyes probably lookin like Hody Jones right now, though I imagine this was enjoyable stressful. This series has had an effect on enough people to the point its been a decade plus Superbowl event and I will continue to treat it as such. It didnt really hit me until the end of the stream that this was the thirteenth Reverie, I still remember them early WCI Brago days when Google Voice couldnt handle more than like 6 people 💀. Also the fact that whoever it was yall was talking about just had a birthday and One Piece is older then them and Kev, we truly are generational at this point. First line of Agenda Business is to whoever tf was worrying about if Zoro tryna get cheeks or not, Robin or Nami dont be worried about that and no one has that energy for them so whats this double standard business? I’ve watched 2 full reveries and in both of them Sage seems extremely rude and disrespectful to other panelists. I’m ok with people having opinions about fake death (which is an issue btw, Morj was 100% right according to me) but talking over and speaking rudely and straying off topic and bringing themes is unwelcoming. I hope new comers rewatch the reverie and see that Morj was LITERALLY agreeing to their point but talking about a larger problem of fake out death. Sad. Melontee I genuinely enjoy watching her vids but again she missed the point - ok to fight over your opinion but one should actually be open to hear the other side and then give point by point rebuttal.

I totally underand why is his favourite and i bet he coudl dwelve onto why he loves it so much in depth(he has done so before in hsi channel and it was soooo fun to watch that it inspired me to read WCI again!) but the way he said it in this Reverie, made me laugh so hard because he knew exactly what he was doing there: after so much heated discussion, the room needed to relax a bit and he is incredible at that. He pulled one of Joyboy's modus operandi and punched a laugh out of many with that comment, reminding us why OP is so fun. Not because of the tragedies but because of the laughter.

Brook's backstory is still the saddest. I get that Boa's backstory is horrifying but she was saved relatively quick. Her suffering ended fast. Brook spent over 50 years alone in despair in the middle of nowhere. He watched as every single person he cared about died one by one. Boa still had her sisters with her. If the straw hats hadn't arrived, who knows how long he'd stay on that boat.

Part of the problem with why Usopp hasn't been able to shine is that the locations themselves have been counterintuitive to his style. Onigashima was indoors with several walls and ceilings, Egghead had a laser dome preventing things from going through. These things go against Usopp's ability to snipe. Elbaf being massive and open would definitely play more to Usopp's strength, being completely outside of the opponents attack range. People often say Ace's death was on Ace's pride or Garp for not helping earlier. But to Garp he didn't know if Ace even wanted to live or not, in fact it seemed like Ace didn't really even care that he was going to die, and by the time Ace cried and said he was so happy to be alive it was far too late for Garp to do anything. The main cause of Ace's death was Luffy's weakness. Because Luffy kept pushing himself again and again past his bodies limit his body eventually collapsed, and it was this that caused Ace to die. Luffy's reckless actions in his desire to save Ace, tragically, was the cause of Ace's death. That's why the death was so impactful.

On Sanji being team oriented during the goat conversation: I can't say it gets "overlooked", but Sanji is a chef first and foremost. In contrast to Zoro being a swordsman, a chefs goal is to prepare a meal and that is all about balancing the ingredients you have. Sanji has been shown to whip up something with limited ingredients and so his mentality of cooking is transferring through to how he operates in the team dynamic. Zoro is a swordsman. That goal at its core is to cut what is in front of you and do it flawlessly. Him being one tracked on Lucci makes sense. Him being directionless as a gag but then just going to cut what us in front of him makes sense. Just an interesting way to step back from the rivalry and give them both props. Food tastes better with alcohol 😉

Yall only do these reverie streams 2-3 times per year max so it's gonna be a long wait until the next one.
