Volunteers clean up Electric Forest mess

Following the Electric Forest Music Festival, a group of festivalgoers have turned their attention to cleanup. (June 28, 2023)

Hopefully next year they will provide large dumpsters on the last day. Sadly all most of us could do was make piles for them to pickup many couldn’t get their broken canopies folded back up etc after the storm.

looks like 90% plus did their best to take everything despite monday being a consistent downpour. Easily the most miserable cleanup day of any in my memory, and we only had about an hour of stuff left to do.

I think a lot of attendees are nature oriented people who are regular campers or such and well indoctrinated into the notion of “leave no trace”. Unfortunately even 10% not following that principle can contribute enough refuge over 4 days to make the area a wasteland after.

@@AndytoWood yeah i'll admit i didn't sweep my camp as thoroughly as i would normally due to said misery, however i'll never understand people who leave key pieces of their camp behind and don't at least drag it to the garbage bins.

I live by that site and what they showed in this video is NOT what it looked like the day after the dwellers left! It had been a few days of clean up when the drone showed the area for tv broadcast. From what I saw the day after, 90% left their stuff and let the community(poor Boy Scouts and band kids, etc) to clean up their refuse! It’s the same every year. Disgusting

We need to do better. The forest is sacred and we should treat it with more respect. I saw so many people leaving all their campsite trash after the storm.

Monday was awful if yo I weren’t there I don’t think you understand what it was like to pack your soaking wet things. Canopy’s that we’re trashed. This doesn’t reflect an entire population. 90% left with what they came with. If there were large dumpsters on site this wouldn’t be an issue.
