Excellent, informative, budget oriented video. Those who never experienced substantial power level increases (i.e. ls/forced induction, nitrous), think it's overkill to do the 8.8 swap. It pays to do the drivetrain upgrades, when the stock assembly will sooner or later shit the bed. Comparing a 377 sbc to a turbo ls is like comparing a Ford flathead v-8 to a 283; there is no comparison in the power levels.

There is a Yoshifab adapter if you are using a ford t5, to use a foxbody 46.5" driveshaft.

This is some dank shit my dude. Very well done. I’m familiar with 8.8 circumcision, but not the “into a Volvo” part. This video will be helpful thank you

Hay! Am If I understand this right, except welding the mountings and shorting the axle housing, you would also need one more short axle shaft? How do you think is possible to retain a parking brake? Sorry for dumb questions, but I'm about to do the same swap, and trying to eliminate beginner's mistakes by most detailed planning I can. Thank you.

you put a passenger side axle in the driver side. after narrowing they are equal length left and right. yes it's possible to make the parking brake work, I just looped the brake cable around the lever on the parking brake and put a ferrule on it.

@@renosgarage7451 Why is that so important to narrow the shaft? It could work just like that, isn't it? So how did it work over that time? Was it worth it in total? Is there any more information about your car? How is it now? Thank you in advance.
@renosgarage74515 жыл бұрын
@@ionkim it's too wide to fit under the car without narrowing it, that's the only reason. It's still working great, narrowing it shouldn't make it any less reliable or weaker when done right.

This would be nice to handle more horses, but does this change your rear suspension options?
@renosgarage74518 жыл бұрын
As it is right now, it's still using the stock springs and shocks in their stock locations. You could weld some tabs onto the axle and use coilovers if you wanted to, I might do that in the future but for now this works.

I bought some 5x108 to 5x114.3 adapters off ebay, 15mm thick.

What did you do for the axles themselves?
@renosgarage74514 жыл бұрын
Use two short side axles. When you're at the junk yard, just take the long axle out of your housing, and steal a short one from another truck, stick the short one in your axle housing and you're good to go.

Eh this was 80 bucks from the junk yard, hard to beat that, it'll handle all the power I can give it anyways

Na, the 9 inch is a bit better than an 8.8 but tfucm is the 9.0 a big bitch. It's like 15lbs heavier at least

An hour per bracket? This guy sucks. A simple cardboard template and just trace it onto the bracket. Could probably get 10 or more done per hour if done properly. You only have to be 10 percent smarter than what you're moving 😂

This guy really does not know anything about engineering! There is no reason to do any of this "Mess there is no advantage to do any of this empty-headed "Mess"! I have been racing Volvo's, and kicked lots of "Ass" and none of this needed to be done! I even ran a 377cubic inch Chevrolet engine using the stock Volvo, Differential, with a 411. rear axle ratio. never broke anything in three years of "Ass-Kicking" fun! Don't waste your time doing any of this!

Your 377 is weak apparently. My 1041 exploded in my Volvo
