Volvo is a great automotive innovator. One of, if not the first, car manufacturers to see the value in front and rear disc brakes. That's not to mention how readily available they are, and easy to upgrade. I think the 240 is one of the car communities most overlooked options, but anyone who owns a Volvo understands the quality and practicality of the car. For me it was love at first shift.

im from sweden ive seen a bunch of volvos with 300 000 miles PLUS. and yes it is true that volvo is the most common platforms for drifting and dragraceing. verry popular to put bmw engines in them but also LS and 2jz. this 240 your driveing got a b23 (hints 23 2,3L) but a b230 is a 2,3L but many of them got turbos stock and those are know to make 700hp there is a guy thats going for 900 wheel right now and that will be the record. But there is the volvo 850 T5 motor witch is front wheel drive but its known to make 1000+. And you can take the t5 engine and put in a 940.740,240. Becasue the t5 engine bolts right up with the 960 transmission (m90h transmission) and then you get rear wheel drive. the nice things about volvo everything bolts toghter with everything. KINDA like honda.

Alexandre Gaumond They are great cars! Try to find one built after 87 at least (wiring was greatly improved, still not great tho :/) and get ready to do the rear bushings on the back axle if you want it to drive decently. There are guides online to build a bushing tool, it's an absolute pita though. When you first get it, do all the usual maintenance and make sure the pcv system isn't clogged. However, they are great cars. Mine is (kinda unfortunately) an auto but with redone suspension it feels great and the steering feel is phenomenal imo. Good luck!

You need to review a turbo 240. I know a guy who has a stock (looking) 240 that has a TD04 turbo that makes 330whp with 300,000 miles on it. Also, cut springs are definitely not causing the vibration.
@austinazcona7007 жыл бұрын
Joey Kissinger it's the toe rod angle and the slight misalignment. I had roll correctors to fix it but those are what actually caused the wheel to fall off on my trip. The correctors were putting such high stress loads that the bolts that held the strut to the ball joint snapped and sheared

3:30 That is so true! Us Swedes modify Volvos for basically everything, rally, drifting, racing etc, the amount of modified Volvos here are ridiculous. The 240/740/940 is a great platform because they are REALLY easy to work on, and 940 turbos for an example, could easily push 250hp with some cheap supporting mods. Great beginner drift car :) Oh and you should really visit Gatebil this summer.

He was a regional manager driving a full circuit over a third of North and ALL of South Carolina every week for close to 15 years, and that was his daily driver for every one of those years. when he finally sold it as a still fully running, fully functional car, it still had the original factory built driveline under it- engine, transmission, and rear end still worked almost good as new. So he couldn't get the wheels balanced? Sacrificed the electric 5th gear to put on a custom knob that falls off? The 4 speed trans had been gone for ages before that year. I bet it still has 5th, but you just can't use it because there's no switch to engage it. Seems a lot of repairs or upgrades were just never finished and half assed. Why would he leave off the reverse lockout? It's attached by 2 bolts. Another sacrifice for the custom shifter no doubt. Doesn't run right? whatever happened to "stage 0"? The bumper isn't hard to bolt in either. Why would you use zip ties over wrenching about 4 bolts? All that effort in a diffuser, but not fix the brakes? The stock brakes are quite capable. 240s have 4 wheel disc. There shouldn't be an issue on the street...What a hack job. This car is an extension of laziness and ineptitude.

Firstable, it is most likely 5spd(4 speed plus overdrive, and Volvo 240 is the only mass produced car with push button overdrive for fifth speed!), and if he did not tempered with a transmission, then find those wire pig tails from fifth speed(OD) is still there(most likely), and all "Phat dude in Blue" have to do is - put a cool none stick push button somewhere in dash or shifter(make it a trigger style) and you have 5th speed for a highway. Second it needs a cool big round rally style "Hella" light, that arranged in a trapeze formation on the grill of this car, it looks mean and awesome. Those wheels are hideous. But the rest is cool.

Ceazar Carr Wheels look really good imo

If it were on a clean Volvo, they would look great, but its supposed to look out of place so the rims are appropriate.
@centuryhelix87277 жыл бұрын
Ceazar Carr they'd look better without the stretched tires i bet
@jus1029ph7 жыл бұрын
Why? Otherwise, it wouldn't be offensive!
@slep50397 жыл бұрын
Yeah that's probably true, I hate stretched tires.

David i have always been on your side when it comes to you saying you haven't changed your video style but i think ive finally put my finger on it. its very subtle but i feel like your glamour shots have gotten shorter and become more like review vlogs in a way while alot of your older stuff have had more shots of the car and more exterior pulls and shots of the cars. the one thing missing is the big boost fly by. The quality is still great and still amazing video. just those subtle changes make more of a difference than i thought. id like to see what others think but thats just what ive noticed.

McChicken Cock There is a difference in making a car a piece of art and a "ricer". Guess 10 year olds cant see the difference yet.

That has nothing to do with opinion. Its a fact. Would be the same as to say fire is cold.

Nice! Please take your time to find a mint 740 / 940 driftcar and do a review. 240 are cool but in sweden we mostly using 740 940 platforms for builds :)

Hey dude. I know you'll never respond to this but it's cool. I remember when you first moved to Atlanta and you went through a bunch of drama. You were on the ropes and thinking about moving back to Va. but you stuck it out and for what it's worth, i'm personally proud of you. Cuz if you would've came back you never would've got to review that sick Volvo. Roll with the punches bro. Keep the content flowing and I'll always be subscribed. Best Wishes- Bobby.

in '84 the manual car also had an overdrive switch on top of the gear shift which you would engage after 4th gear. but with the Saab nob you can't even access it.
