Is that a metal braided hose you have running to the turbo?? If so, how’s it hold up?

just watching this again, as about to do hg on 2003 d5. what were all the symptoms? coolant loss? loads of pressure in the system blowing coolant out, even when cold in morning. once running with cap of and revving, bubbles and foam? looking at the failed gasket, it didnt seem to have breached the firing rings (is that the correct term), so how was the exhaust gases getting into the coolant?

I cant really advise you on a 2003 d5 Mathew, I know next to nothing about them, but the main man Robert diy has a good video on head gasket symptoms on a 850 / V70. It's the one where it's snowing outside. Very good video. Check it out.👍

@@850BRICK thanks, will have a look. block is same a t5. open deck, which is why when the fire ring breaches, the gases go straight into the coolant as this fully surrounds the cylinder. unlike a closed deck where the gas can "run" until it finds a gallery either oil or water. i saw you have coolant blowing out, did you have pressure in the morning when cold, and bubbles when leaving the cap off?
