How many miles and what years d13 is this problem most common with?

I had this problem on a 2012 D13 with 900,000 miles on it. It cost me $17,000 on a volvo shop plus another $3,000 for towing because the shop where I had it tow first couldn’t do the job and I had to take it a to Volvo where I was sodomized 😩

The " easiest" way to visually check it, is to take the Compressor and PS pump off and look for any excessive wear on both gears or check for play. If too much hassle, then listen to any unusual sound and or vibration when the compressor kicks in, which would 80% indicate bad bull gear. When one of these completely fails, then you are in big trouble plus $$$$.

What driving habits can affect gear wear? High rpm, low rpm loading, cold start driving ( I know personally that 2009 cummins turbo seals don't like to be driven without a warm up.),etc?

That's all D13 engines have that problem has nothing to do with drivers driving style

Hi please help if you can i have fh 12 d 16 580 ,after one hour driving,i get error engine ,timing sensor only for one second ,and cutting power,i check sensors and wires,did my problem is mayby some of these gears ,mayby one teeth,and because of that my sensors are not good timing i get error mid 128 sid 22 fmi 2

Pleease respond. Are 2015 d13s affected much? I have 600k on mine and wondering if it'll go a million with no idler gear failure. Oil is changed less than 15,000 miles every time and overheads set every 100k by the dealer.

D12 is way better. They are just old. and harder and harder to find a very good condition.
