This issue has been exacerbated by the practices of insurance companies, which can have negative effects as well. Some insurance companies may contribute to rising prices by providing coverage that encourages risky lending and speculation. Additionally, certain insurance policies can be expensive, making it even more challenging for families to secure affordable properties. It's important for individuals tor consider diversifying their income streams, independent of government reliance, as a wise approach in the current situation.

Polestar is joint owned by Volvo and geely. Geely own Volvo. Polestar is an EV only business now, so makes no sense for Volvo to manage it when it has its own EV line
@tonyb36294 ай бұрын
Volvo are dumping their 'part ownership' in Polestar because the company is losing money hand over fist and is now a liability. If Polestar get the $1.3B they want, it will be gone in a few months, and they will be back cap in hand again, but not to Volvo, which is the point. This is nothing to do with competing product line-ups - it's just business, and Volvo don't want to be stuck bailing out a lame duck.

The latest Polestar emits 20T of CO2 for each one made, 9 tonne in battery alone. As a comparison, my 1995 Toyota camry wagon created 1.08T of CO2 in it's manufacture and 382KG of CO2 per year. The life of the Polestar would be no more than 10years, if battery was never fast charged. It would take 2.7 Polestars to reach the life of my Camry, which due to major engine service and respray, has another 10 years in it.

Here's an idea, which some might call a little revolutionary. The Polestar, from a design perspective is actually quite nice; it puts Tesla to shame. But the Achilles heel is twofold: A high out-the-door price and the real killer a useful range of only 220 miles. And before you say "But I only drive 5 miles a day", then why would you purchase a $65K+ car for driving 25 miles a week? Also, every time I see the word "Polestar", I keep thinking it's "Polecat"
@lukemallory78324 ай бұрын
If I was the founder of Polestar, I'd be feeling a little sick. Yes, financially they probably did well when Volvo took it on. But once upon a time Polestar was just a racing team that looked after Volvo's Swedish touring cars, as TWR looked after the 850/S40 BTCC cars. And now they're seeing their name going to be slapped on some Chinese rubbish. The Polestar 1 was also supposed to be the new C70, based on the Concept Coupe, but we were robbed of that too, and they turned it into that ridiculous, over-priced hybrid nonsense. Imagine if that thing had the old 5 cylinder in it, what a car it would have been.. all the way back in 2013... when the 2.5t was still being made as well as the 3.0 T6.

This movement is called stellar precession. In 3000 BC, a faint star called Thuban in the constellation of Draco was the North Star. Polaris did not become the North Star until about AD 500. It will get closer to straight above the Earth's north pole until sometime in 2102. Then it will move away again. It will be the closest star to the pole until about AD 3000

@dex25314 ай бұрын
Polestar 1 was a sports car. Nobody seems to understand finances here, Geely is simply moving money around so that Volvo doesn't need to put stake into Polestar. It's a subsidiary offloading holdings to a parent company. It changes nothing about existing services and contracts between the subsidiaries. Volvo offloading will make the balance sheets will look better. Just look, their stock went up. Tesla has been aggressively undercutting the competition by offloading their older supply and using government incentives to try to claw back on lower sales. Makes the resale market look less appealing. As for the Polestar 2 being sold, that's just one single sample. We don't know what condition that car is and why it isn't attracting buyers.

@grantp79754 ай бұрын
Perhaps one of the original benefits of Volvo "owning" the Polestar brand was the ability to farm credits for EV manufacturing so that Volvo could buy them as they still had mostly "large" ICE cars and the eco penalties would have been huge. Moving to an all electric model range changes the rationale for that business association. Geely might have a way of shifting that to, for example, Lotus to allow the credits from the new SUV thing to offset the penalties for the proper sports cars. Of course it is all smoke and mirrors and always has been.

That is interesting they call it a "Global slowdown". That is exactly how they tried to introduce electric cars. The entire globe must transition to electric vehicles. The majority of the globe or even people in modern industrialized countries can't afford electric vehicles. Our current infrastructure can't support the vehicles they have managed to sell. Besides, who would want to buy a new emerging tech that will be obsolete before it is even paid off? Only the very wealthy or a robust middle class can afford to do that and they have destroyed the middle class and there are not enough wealthy people to support the new industry. The emerging wealth of China will not buy their cars, they will buy their own.

Polestar 1 was a sports car. It was a hybrid however and mega expensive

This is pretty worrying for Lotus cars as they to are owned by Geely and their EV SUV thing is pretty much a Polestar/Volvo with a different body.

The brand offshoot has been around for nearly 20 years with some desirable ICE models but their venture into EVs turned the product into manure.

Imagine they pushed the EV crap for years and only 3-6% of the total cars on UK roads are EVs and the numbers are falling...

A poster tried to race me in my V8 M3 😂😂😂 what a joke. They're not sports cars.

I saw that a dude in the US this morning declaring that his Polestar might welll become a modern day classic - all bc Polestar have dropped the custom option. Next they'll be dropping everything off the list...

Maybe the pillock struggling to sell his car should have at least bought in from a manufacturer we’ve heard of 😂😂😂

Because they've swamped the EV Market, but they can't sell them. All of our UK TV Ads are pushing EVs, however these manufacturers can't sell them. We, normal Joe Public can't afford to purchase an EV.

Geoff, a couple of years ago I'm ashamed to say that all the EV hype nearly made me succumb and so thought I better look at something electric, Tesla were more than a bit crap in build quality and Polestar, being Volvo seemed a bit more interesting. But to quote Tony from EV Carnge. when I got up close it wasn't half as pretty as it looked wafting by across the road.😆 And inside so minimulist with seats straight out of my Grannies house, it made even the bland interior of Tesla look quite ostentatious and I came away resolved to sticking with ICE until there was no other choice. But what made me laugh outload and really annoy the saleman is that he was adamant that Polestar was the racing stable of Volvo and Polestar was to Volvo the equivelant of AMG is to Mercedes 🤣. I couldn't help myself saying, 'it may go like shit of a shovel in a straight line but have you had a look inside this and the inside of an AMG'. So perhaps Volvo really did see Polestar as their sports offering.

Have you noticed the new Tesla advert? It now has an app that plans your journey taking into account the resting places (charging). Sounds a great system but, as Elon Musk says, "no system is the best system". I agree! And that is why I drive an ICE car, I just think where I want to go and go. 😅😅😅
