Some good info for anyone looking at this. If you notice @22.22 in the video, the transmit data from the module is just sporadically low signals. What happens is that when the module have wrong configuration (noticed the yellow warning label that the module is matched to the car and should not be removed? 😄), the module transmits some few packets on the bus during startup. After about 18 packets at interval 10 Hz the module seems to go to sleep and stops transmitting other than an ACK signal for every packet recieved from the bus. That ACK signal is what is shown in the video, just a single bit transmitted. The module is fine but needs to be reprogrammed with correct config data (i think). The first packet sent on the bus (from my module atleast) was 0x00 00 00 00 80 00 00 48. After that came one 0x00 00 00 01 80 02 00 6C followed by repeated 0x00 00 00 01 80 02 00 24 about 16 times before it went with the ACK only. ID was 0EE0500A for my module but is probably specific to year and manufacturer.

Excellent video. I had the same fault code earlier this year and after speaking to a few ECU specialist's i was told that the car needed a new ecu and you cannot fit a second hand one as it needed to coded to the car. So £600.00 pounds later it was fixed. Top man.

Don't power up SRS module in the car when it's upside down!! You could easly fire the airbags in the car, because it will think it is rolled over. Best way to test airbag sensors is to connect on the bench to the diagnostic tester, this way you avoid unwanted detonation! Second way to secure yourself if there is no possibility to test on bench is to just unplug drivers airbag, deployment system would be disabled because of fault you created. Please be safe when working on Airbag systems!!

DIM "configuration fault" means DIM is configured to have a particular module connected to it but has no comms to it. Ford's idea of clear informative descriptions. Everybody seems to be doing this nowadays. Oh, and FFS, don't use a test light on airbag wiring. Digital multimeter until you are 100% you know which wires are real GND for current grounding test. Very nice videos! Can you please give me an advice regarding a W211 2.2 CDI ECU? The car didn’t start, someone worked something in the ecu and now the car works fine when the ECU is out of the case. When the case is on, the car doesn’t work. It seems that some of the pins of a chip are shorted together on purpose. Can you please point me in the right direction? Thank you!

Very good job once again. I'm not into car repairs too much, but these are very interesting to watch. Out of curiosity, is it hard to find flash dumps of vehicle modules? Sure some can be found, but generally speaking of them? I did change obd parameters from my previous bmw as I added cruise control etc. but I remember I was bit sceptic about software I used and even though I think there was option to backup I was still worried if it might have damaged program so that it possibly would've been rendered unconnectable via obd. Not exactly same thing, but kinda proves that apparently I legitimately worried about possibility.

I would be good if makers would be forced to release codes and schematics for all, say in something like 10 year old vehicle.
