I’ve done that job recently (for a second time) on my 2006 S60. It looks to me that the spring compressor is deforming the spring when compressing it which makes the alignment difficult. I used a different style of compressor from US PRO tool number 6255. This worked really well but takes longer than the device you used. I made the mistake of using aftermarket top mounts first time and they lasted 12 months and the centre bushes pushed out. I decided to go for Volvo OEM in the end. These are going strong and just ticked over 306k miles. Good luck with YES!

buy cheap buy twice, NAPA are more mid-range than cheap and I've had good results with their Disks & pads. that compressor looks like a lot of hassle, try the small clamp and two twist bars type,
