My first JGB show. By sheer luck, I turned a credit card and a pay phone at the day camp where I was working into a well timed call (9:59 am !!) and a 12th row center seat. Bobby and Rob Wasserman opened the show with an acoustic set. Good times and a show recording that doesn't disappoint my memory of some killer jams.

This is simply one of my favorite videos on KZbin. I was lucky enough to be at this show and the two right before it at Merriweather Post Pavillion. This was the best Deal I ever saw and the crowd was going absolutely bonkers during it. The whole show is amazing showcasing a smiling, happy Jerry at the top of his game. Watch the whole thing, but if you can't, then fast forward to the Deal, then fast forward to the Lonesome and a Long Way From Home. It's...so...good.

This was in the tape-trading days when it was hard to collect music and it got even harder once I started following the GD around and spent half the year traveling. So I went to this show not really knowing what to expect, and I just fell in love with Garcia all over again. I lived an hour from the Spectrum, and was supposed to be home that night and at work the next day; as it turned out, I never slept in my old bed again. I went to the rest of this JGB tour, then all the fall GD shows right up until the two Miami shows and have stayed here in Florida ever since.
