By far one of the greatest shows Jerry played, prime example of his mastery and virtuosity. There's really nothing else like it.

Dennis Campbell Indeed - I saw the Brendan Byrne show this tour - Bob & Rob were fantastic too. Should have done more of these shows, alas I had little $. Fortunately my $ situation improved by the time the Dead rolled around in October, and I was able to catch a nice chunk of those shows.

I was at this show also and 19 at the time. Still have the ticket stub. It just says "Jerry Garcia" on it and not JGB. I didn't know Bobby and Rob were going to open and I remember thinking that it was basically an alternate version of a Dead show! Same vibes and same crowd!

My first JGB show. By sheer luck, I turned a credit card and a pay phone at the day camp where I was working into a well timed call (9:59 am !!) and a 12th row center seat. Bobby and Rob Wasserman opened the show with an acoustic set. Good times and a show recording that doesn't disappoint my memory of some killer jams.

This is simply one of my favorite videos on KZbin. I was lucky enough to be at this show and the two right before it at Merriweather Post Pavillion. This was the best Deal I ever saw and the crowd was going absolutely bonkers during it. The whole show is amazing showcasing a smiling, happy Jerry at the top of his game. Watch the whole thing, but if you can't, then fast forward to the Deal, then fast forward to the Lonesome and a Long Way From Home. It's...so...good.

We were on the floor about 15 center and there was a guy and a lady working security and they were kind of grooving but when they went into my brothers and sisters they said f it and joined in with every, it was like having church service a the spectrum. Pure bright light love man. Then the lucky old sun, just wow. Was so cool to see 2 people there to work security become totally absorbed by the whole spectacle of it all. I cant imagine what they went home and told thier family's that night. What a time we all had

@@hippiejohn334 I was a huge Dead fan, had probably seen them 100 times between 1985 and 1989, but had never seen (or even heard much of) the JGB. This was in the tape-trading days when it was hard to collect music and it got even harder once I started following the GD around and spent half the year traveling. So I went to this show not really knowing what to expect, and I just fell in love with Garcia all over again. I lived an hour from the Spectrum, and was supposed to be home that night and at work the next day; as it turned out, I never slept in my old bed again. I went to the rest of this JGB tour, then all the fall GD shows right up until the two Miami shows and have stayed here in Florida ever since. The second Miami show was 30 years ago today, as a matter of fact :) .

Hard to believe he was in his 40s . He looks like he’s 60/65. Hard living takes it toll.

I was 19 at this show and remember thinking that the 40's must be when we really go down hill judging by the way Jerry looked! Now I'm 50!
