I freaking LOVE your Felix. I swear, I could only knit that sweater over and over and be happy. 😊

Sirdar jumper looks amazing. The spine detail suits the pattern. The colourway is absolutely stunning 😍

I love how the "spine" of the Sirdar sweater actually makes it look like a ribcage. Very halloween-y!

Your mauve Felix looks great - perfect colour - and I agree that it's a wonderful pattern. I made one for my 92 year old Mum Lola; it was the middle of our winter and she was complaining of the cold so I quickly whipped one up in mustard tweedy Irish worsted. It only took a couple of weeks so she had it in time. She lives in another state, South Australia, which is a long way away from me in Sydney - she put it on as soon as it arrived and didn't take it off until two weeks ago when it started to warm up. Absolute win for the Felix and it was you who inspired me to make it. Lola and I thank you.

Midnight quilter is hilarious, I've spent hours just watching her whilst doing the dishes or cooking or whatever.... Never made a quilt the size she does though... Lol must cost a fortune! Addictive viewing though. Your vintage knit is looking great, perfect yarn choice 😍... There was a Noro bolero pattern in the Knitter issue 60 called Leilani by Eline Oftedal, years ago, thats made in a similar way... That's on my bucket knitting list.

You are undoubtedly an amazing knitter just with trying to decipher that cryptic Sirdair pattern. Glad you are enjoying your project bag sewing. For sure... quilting has to be in your repertoire of skills. I’m enjoying your 50 shades of Mauve! 😁 and 🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼the music !!

Hah! and what am I doing while watching your video? Working on a quilt :P I was inspired by Susan B Anderson's scrap quilt, working from an online class from @folkfibers. I've done a few strip quilts - quick, no need for squaring and piecing. This scrap quilt is fast and loose as well, I think that is my jam. The other quilts I have made have been for gifts, this one I am keeping for myself, dreaming of snuggling up in it any day now. That quilt top is beautiful. I have a hard time seeing quilts and translating them into colors and patterns I'm drawn to, but you have a gift for that. Can't wait to see your quilting adventures!

It’s a cable cast on for Widow’s kiss. She primarily uses a cable cast on for most things. I test for her often, in fact I am finishing up a test sweater for her while watching this.

My knitting wishlist and queue gets longer with every episode :P The Felix Cardigan looks like exactly what I want for this winter, fingers crossed I can find suitable yarn in the stash (I promised myself I'd do my best to use what I have for the next while, mostly because there's *no* space for more yarn!!) And I couldn't agree more about Cathy Hay, she's wonderful and so chilled to listen to. I'm still pretty sure that her, Bernadette and you are all secretly time travellers :P

Never thought 'hazel' would describe mauve 😄. I live in the desert so looks pretty brown to me!😜 I've been playing catch up on your vids this weekend along with making a dent in WIPs. May have 2 for the History MAL! Kudos on yours! It's beautiful.

One of the tips that I learned to help get the points right on a HST in my quilting is to double check that my 1/4” seam allowance. Even though I had a 1/4” foot it ended up being a 3/8” seam which meant nothing matched.

There are so many more imperfections that happen in quilting but even less noticible than knitting mistakes :) You're gonna love it when you're done! It's a cute quilt. I recommend YT channel "just get it done quilts." If you find you hate the quilting part (vs piecing) there are people you can hire for that part 😅

I’m assuming that you didn’t swatch for the sirdar sweater 🙂 I wonder, how are you sure that the finished size will come out right for you? Sorry if this is a dumb question, I’m not an experienced knitter and vintage patterns scare me with their lack of gauge and yarn weight information. Btw, I love, love, love the color and shape of your Felix pullover! ❤️
@Voolenvine4 жыл бұрын
You are correct, Shehnaz. I did not swatch 😂 Not the wisest choice, I know ... but after checking out the notes of other Ravelry projects who used similar yarn and with a similar body-type, I went with the average needle size used. I'm not a necessarily tight or loose knitter so I usually luck-out doing this. 🤷♀️ Also, knowing that superwash yarn has a tendency to stretch a bit after blocking, I can sort of gauge how long I need to knit the body. Again, swatching is always a wise way to make sure something will fit properly. This is just my own personal brand of lazy 🥴
@ShehnazKhan14 жыл бұрын
Voolenvine thanks so much for explaining 🙂 wow, that’s so cool that you can figure it out like that. Some day I hope I can have the confidence to knit a vintage pattern too.

That's funny, a knitted cast on for me is way stretchier than a long tail cast on, even on two needles...

I’m sorry for being a pest but can I make a tiny suggestion? Every time you cut away to show a picture of a pattern and its name the screen goes black for just a second and I always think my TV is messing up even though I know something is coming. Is there any way to make that black screen have a little something in the top corner? Or maybe make the background dark gray instead? I love your show but I get caught up in the watching and my knitting and it’s a bit jarring to suddenly have a black screen for a second. Love your update this week btw.
@Voolenvine4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the feedback. I can understand how a sudden cut to black might be jarring to some. I'll see what I can do! 😊

So guys, are swatches not really too important if your working with the yarn and needles the pattern calls for? I’m semi intermediate. Searching has NEVER been fun for me 😩
@PelafinaLievre4 жыл бұрын
Swatch. That’s how you’ll know if the garment will be the right size for the stitch count.
@PelafinaLievre4 жыл бұрын
If you don’t get gauge you may need to play with needle size
@Voolenvine4 жыл бұрын
The short answer: ALWAYS swatch! Do as I say, not as I do. 😂 but my theory is that for looser garments that don’t need to fit well in specific areas like the bust, you can throw a little more caution to the wind. 😉
