I still have my roller skates from the 50’s❣️😊 they’ve been stored in my air conditioner closet in the hallway of my house. I’ll be 80 years old next month and still remember the Christmas I received them from my parents..my dad and mom both skated...dad could dance on skates..I loved when he would take me out on the roller rank and skate with me! Mine are white leather lace up boot with the wooden wheels.

I loved the chat about the roller skating. My dad learnt to skate in the Floral hall Belfast in the 1950s He then taught me in the 1970s as a small child on metal adjustable skates . I had my first roller boots in the late 70s and went to roller discos as a teen . I loved my roller boots they were white leather with red wheels . I’m sure you will have lots of fun skating

Welcome to the world of skating! I was involved with roller derby for years and I miss the empowerment I used to feel with those 8 wheels on my feet. It is for sure a learning process and you WILL fall. A lot. That means you're trying and learning! Don't give up, it's worth it. Bend your knees and fall forward onto your knee pads instead of your butt. Your body will thank you.

Our COVID shortage has been cucumbers. Yes, cucumbers! And we even grow them here in Iceland, but they are constantly sold out and there is a shortage. I find it hilarious! I love roller skating. My skates were basically grown to my legs when I was growing up and I have been really wanting to get back to it. But it is almost winter here, so I am putting it on my list of things to get in spring 2020 ;)

Hi Kristin! Back in August, I had an impulsive urge to purchase Rollerblade's (haven't skated since I was like 12? I'm 35)) LOL but unfortunately, they were all sold out.. like for a decent pair. You've reminded me to give the internet another look :) Everything you've mentioned as for the idea behind why you're giving skating a try, I, too thought the same exact things. Everyone looks so cool, doing their little dances on wheels. Good luck with your new hobby and I can't wait to hear more about the fun you're going to have! Sincerely, River

Make sure to use your wrist and elbow pads because I fractured my wrist in January skating with my girls at an indoor rink. I couldn’t knit for several weeks and I wished I would have worn wrist guards to protect myself. The cement is even harder than an indoor rink so the falls hurt more. Good luck and have fun!!!!

Uh, the jumper ist beautiful. I can't wait to see it in all its finished glory! The need for straight lines... I understand that. There ist always a time for elaborate things and: straight down, no-nonsense. A little tip from a quilting mess like me, wo had done the same: just ad a matching border around to lengthen in required length, or a plain one for stitching. I made my first one for a French bed - if you want to quilt yourself and you're brave enough, buy a frame for handembroidery and work down part by part. I didn’t regret that.

Yay for taking up roller skating, you will love the Moxi's when they finally arrive! I got the roller skating bug about 5 years ago and finally learnt to skate in my mid 30's after stumbling through the process in my teens. I regularly went to a fitness class called Skatefit in Australia, it was so much fun and I learnt to jump, skate backwards and speed skate! Dancing on skates was my dream...but fear of falling was stronger than my will to succeed, which is odd as I had come so far! I haven't gone for a couple of years now (since starting knitting actually!), but thank you for the inspiration to pull my skates out again :)

Rollerskating is so much fun! I haven’t been since I was in high school but if you can ice skate… you can rollerskate even though there is a different dynamic to it.There used to be a very large skating rink here in the 50s when my father was skating… there was a smaller rink when we were growing up in middle/high school. Loved it! Now people just stayed outside which is great. Be sure to take video of that when you are doing it! 😊🖤

So much to comment on but just wanted to reiterate ... even tho I swatch ... it’s really not that useful to me. I always knit to fit.. my cast on would be an extra small or small, the bust a medium, then back to small and on and on. The specs change ... no such thing as a standard body size. S, M,L are just guide lines for me. 😂 love how that Sirdar creation is coming along. ❤️👏

I have added handles later often. Cut a 3"*12" piece of fabric, sew small sides together, iron a fold over the 3" width, fold both sides inside (so the handle is 3/4" wide). Sew together near the open end. Than attach with parallel seams (1/8") of double row of stitches at the side seam. I found that last, double row of double stitches) the trick to make it sturdy!

Look into quilting guilds in your area or fabric shops that have long arm services for your quilt when you're done. They would be able to do the quilting for a queen size quilt. That way you don't have to figure out how to send bulky things in the mail.

I find it hard to stay with one project all the time so I have around three projects, knitting, sewing, cross stitch, reading, baking and instead of just bining a project when I lose umph, I just go on to the next one that attracts my flighty interest. It’s better than having piles of bags with half finished projects in them which was what used to happen. I find right now the only thing that interests me is reading and baking, and making some masks for the family so I’m not beating myself up over it, eventually my interest will come back. 🙋🏼
