As someone who used the Royal to complete the entirety of Michigan and Alaska, starting in Taymyr and using the Grad felt like such a dramatic improvement. I knew the Royal was bad but I kept using it to save money in Michigan and Alaska, so I drove it to its resting place at the peak of one of the Yukon mountains because I couldn't dare sell it after all the work it did.

First off man! Respecy for using the BM-17. I used the BM through Alaska and it did great. I can imagine what it was like to switch to to the grad from the BM-17. Probably felt like night and day. I gotta say I wish the BM held up more to those elite trucks.

I have always loved the way the Grad looked. I looked forward to getting it and replacing my Tayga 6436 as my main truck. Once I unlocked it tho, I saw that the top engine was in Amur of all places... I am NEVER going back to that damn region,b tu boy was it worth it. It just GOES! The swtichable diff was a big downside for me who loves to just stick it in high and cruise through the mud, so I just installed the "Truck life Improvements" mod and am now using the Grad FR version it adds, which has a taller suspension, 54´tires and always on diff. It is perfect. Made my game very enjoyable :)

I think it's ok that this one doesn't do Logging. Seems like this new design was aimed at modern commercial truck fleets more than backyard logging companies who have been buying surplus Ural. Kraz and Gaz trucks since the 70s :)

Seems that way. Maybe the developers aimed to make is somewhat like it was intended to be addon wise.

Been testing this out a bit and while the offroad capabilities are good and it can run pretty fast I find the turn radius lacking and the steering speed much too slow for my liking. If I hit a bump or rock and get thrown off course it can be hard to correct it in time to avoid a crash. Also, maybe it's just me but I find it a bit lacking in frontal weight which further hampers the steering when the front tires don't seem to get enough grip. Maybe I need more hours behind the wheel on this one.
@vladvulcan2 жыл бұрын
when talking about trucks that doesn't require high suspension for biggest tires, some trucks should be removed from the list as they don't have a raised suspension option at all (both Cats and the HX520)
@justinlynch33 жыл бұрын
I don't use it much, but the Grad is a good truck. Weird the stability is so good, I remember rolling this on Smithville one time. I was on the way to help a buddy who rolled over, and I was on one of those bumpy grass paths. Can't re,ember if it was the one behind the farm or the one further down the road behind the warehouse, it was one of them. I made it right to where my friend was, rolled a tire up on one of the bumps and the truck just went right over. I ended up rolled over like 5 feet behind my buddy. lol Not necessarily blaming the truck though, could always just be a bad hump on that path. Not sure about the D, but in my opinion I'd say the AE is still more stable then the Grad. But that's not based on stats, just from my pure in-game driving experience. But yea it's a nice truck, nothing really wrong with it that I can say. It's just one those I simply don't drive very often in comparison to others. Funnily enough, you said you was excited when you got the new Grad engine. I remember actually being pretty pissed at the time when Sabre did that. I was like "Look at all the trucks that need a power boost in this game. Derry 4520, P16, P12, even the CAT745C could use a better engine. And you guys give us a engine for the Grad, a truck that already perfectly capable as was." It honestly felt like a middle finger from Sabre that fans was like can you buff this truck or that truck, and then they buff the Grad instead. I mean like I'm over it now, but when I first found that engine on Amur, I was NOT happy with Sabre that they did that. lol Who knows, maybe there is some deep subconscious part of me that refuses to use the Grad out of spite to Sabre. Like "Yeah we the fans complaining all these trucks need help, but lets take one of the best trucks in the game and buff that instead." A part of me might be like "Fine you want to be that way, I won't use the Grad then." lol
@NProvince3 жыл бұрын
I definitely understand what you mean. There are a TON of trucks that need upgrades. Most of them are NA trucks too. With your perspective, ya I can agree with that for sure. I wish they would,stop putting "catch up upgrades" on end game maps. Like the transtar suspension should just be free. That upgrade location coulda been used for something else ya know. Great comment man! Hopefully they do add more needed upgrades in the future.
@justinlynch33 жыл бұрын
@@NProvince Actually I think I have a better idea, what if instead of being free, the Transtar raised suspension to added to Michigan? It'd be so cool to have a actual reason like new upgrades and new contracts to revisit old maps again. Though last time I asked on the forums one of the community managers quoted "technical reasons" as to why they don't want to add new stuff to old maps. Personally given Season 3 that added logging to all maps I call baloney on that response. But that's the last thing I was told.

I think a reason for really bad turning is because of the double tires. Using the other set MHS 1 for chain iirc, would speed up the turning radius
@NProvince3 жыл бұрын
Thats a good point. Perhaps it is a little tighter with the Singles just due to the friction. Having AWD activated will help that as well I believe with the front ends power pulling the vehicle into the turn. Thank you for that insight!

You forgot that this truck is tippy and unstable as one of your Cons. Instead you put stabillity as a Pro. In my humble opinion the reason I don't use this truck very often is because it sheds it's load far too easily.
@NProvince Жыл бұрын
In my testing and cross references of testing from other testers/youtubers, accompanied by file data weight distribution ; the Voron grad is not unstable. Every truck is affected by weight set on a sideboard bed or addon, which is why I use a semi trailer as explained in my trailer review. When most of its weight is set in its frame, and has the ability to have wide sitting wide tires; evidence that its stability is good is there
@natsterjam Жыл бұрын
@@NProvince Sorry bud, it wasn't meant to sound like I am saying I don't like your findings, I did say "In my opinion". I have shed many loads with the Grad my friend, the stats may say otherwise but that is what my experience is. Perhaps it depends what map you are driving it on, or as you say how you setup your load, some might say it's my driving, maybe it's me comparing (unscientifically) it to other more stable trucks like the Tayga, that's ok, we all have opinions. I will agree to disagree. The Grad isn't stable for me😉 Keep up the good work and uploads! Peace 👊
@NProvince Жыл бұрын
True, it does depend on your driving style and you own experience. Thats totally fine that you think that. What I try to do is look at file findings and test it. So far from what I’ve seen; trucks that have allot of weight in their chassis are pretty stable trucks. Still I can understand tipping in trucks like this. That’s just part of the game and we all have our own experience for sure! I appreciate the convo! I’d like to encourage you to give it another shot :)
