The StompLab series from VOX gets widely varied opinions from Gearfacts viewers. As a non-bass player, I think I can objectively say that it's really good. IMHO.

So as my oldest comment is 9 months old,the peddle still kinda works,the wah peddle quit working so i can only use auto wah,i cant change any settings, because i cant get into the menu,now,i will say even with not being able to use certain features the device still has lots of usable sounds,im jyst giving my experience with it,i never used it in a band situation,this is just another addition to my practice rig,it works real well as a preamp for plugging in my acoustic bass,stops all the feedback, overall its worth the money if your looking for a good cheap intro to effects pedal,but if your looking for a good giggable peddle this wouldn't be a first choice

Aaron Davis Balanced review. Sounds like you’ve worked it hard and got good value out of it. Thanks for watching the video again :)
@demofactory6 жыл бұрын
The unit sounds great!!! Couple of things to note though... When you toggle the foot pedal for the wah sounds, all the knobs and switches rock back and fourth with the pedal. I'm guessing they're all surface mounted components instead of full chassis mounted. Not sure if that would be a durability issue in the long term. Also, I didn't see any tone/eq controls. Are there any hidden in menus, or included within the patch presets? Gotta say though, for a non-bass player, you had some interesting grooves going. Just saw your other Stomplab video. I'll be sure to check it out for more info. Thanks for posting!!!
@demofactory6 жыл бұрын
Just watched the other video, and saw that it does have eq. I like this box a lot!!!
@gearfacts6 жыл бұрын
Yep it does have EQ controls, that's shown in the tutorial video I made about this unit - though I feel I could have explained the bit about EQ a bit better. Oh well. As for the controls moving, I think that was just the whole unit wobbling on the soft carpet. The 'smoothing' effect that KZbin offers (and I use) tends to enhance illusions like that. So no worries, it's as solid as a rock :)

Great video. I've had one for about a week, and with the exception of a fairly steep learning curve, which I discussed in your other video. I think it's a great buy, especially for the low cost. I think the controls could be a bit more intuitive, but the presets offer some very interesting possibilities. Also the tuner is one of the quickest and most accurate I've found.
@gearfacts6 жыл бұрын
I agree 100%. I was put off by the strange editing system but I guess with a device this small, buttons and dials just have to be multi-functional. As you say though, after a bit of practice it becomes quite natural. Some of the sounds are really fat and quite professional I think, although I'm sure a real pro would never use one! Thanks for your comment and for watching Gearfacts.

I just got one these units. I might be a very happy camper. Some of the sounds No but some good ones that’ll be better than having 5 pedal boards and tons of $$$ spent for all of those “ you gotta own this “ pedals. As good as those pedals are I can’t afford them all or even 1/3 of them.My job is to hold the band tight with our drummer. We have an excellent pocket have played together for years and are real tight. This will be an excellent addition for just a few of the effects. Good demo, little talk all business thank you sir

Compared to the very old now line 6 black kidney bean unit. This one blows it to bits. Many many more useful tones on this unit. Even with extreme tweaking the line 6 old can't even get close to the great tones this has without even editing the presets.

Hey man great review. I have two questions. Between this and the zoom b1xon what would you recommend? I’m torn between the two, as both seem great for the price. Also how do bass effects sound on guitar? I want to buy two separate pedals but I don’t have the cash atm.
@gearfacts6 жыл бұрын
If you want to use one unit for bass and guitar, I'd go the Zoom. The Vox sounds more 'authentic' on bass, with some really nice classic tones. But if you want an all-round effects unit that does it all, the B1xon is just too much fun. As you correctly foresee, you'll be happy with either as they are both great value. I've comprehensively reviewed both and all related pedals, so see my other videos. Thanks for watching Gearfacts :)
@NourMohamed-xe8zw6 жыл бұрын
Gearfacts Hey man thanks for the reply. If I’m going to use the zoom for both bass and guitar should I get the guitar or bass model of the pedal?
@gearfacts6 жыл бұрын
Personally I'd get the bass model because it has one extra synth function, and I like crazy sounds. And I found the guitar amp models pretty uninteresting on the G1xon, you'd get results just as good from the bass amp models for both bass and standard guitars. This is very much in my own humble opinion though!

@gearfacts6 жыл бұрын
No, it doesn't do that. Pedals that have that feature generally have a switch marked "CTL". Thanks for watching Gearfacts :)
@hughcdavies4 жыл бұрын
Easy, just edit and create the 2 sounds as you want them and save in to 2 adjacent user defined spaces. Then you start with your 1st and switch during the song at will between the 2. Once you start playing with the edit function that really opens up the scope of the beast. But make a note what you set up, I have a spreadsheet where I note the settings for each new sound I'm making.

This or the NUX-MG100? The later is labelled as an electric guitar multi effects pedal and I can’t find anybody demoing it on the bass! :( I like the idea of the mg100 having a drum machine and looping feature.
@gearfacts4 жыл бұрын
Hm, this is an interesting question. There's no doubt that the Vox will give you better bass tone, but if you're just about having fun and using the extra features then yeah I'm sure the Nux would sound acceptable as it's a great pedal in its own right. Buy the one that makes you smile :)

I ordered one if these, it should be here today or tomorrow at the latest,I'm getting excited ,I used to have a D.O.D bfx 808(,or some series of letters and number like that) , it was the same thing,only it had a drum machine and I could record and store sample loops, I'm kind of disappointed this one Dont have anything like that,but for the price I'm paying for the vox,I can't complain,the only thing I'm curious about is the battery life,does it burn thru batteries? I know it has a power supply option but I'll still use battery's at times
@gearfacts6 жыл бұрын
Yeah I prefer to use batteries. This pedal is pretty efficient with a set of AA's. Changing them is a pain as you have to undo screws. But it'll give you hours and hours of work so you don't have to do it all that often. And the sound quality is definitely worth it. Gearfacts

Gearfacts I got mine a couple hours ago,I'm trying to figure how how to program it and setting it up,the instructions could be a bit better,or at least made easier to understand what does what,I'm having fun though,that makes it worth the money in itself

I couldn't help but notice how the dials wiggle when you press on the pedal. Almost like you're stepping on an integrated circuit board underneath. Looks like cheap construction if that's the case. Lmk if that device still works after a year of playing.

@@ronnythieme7015 Good question. I think both versions have their place. The expression pedal can be a lot of fun, especially when playing alone but the truth is that most songs are played with a static, consistent bass sound and the smaller version has no trouble providing that.
