|| Note from Joshua
After a peaceful evening listening to Gregorian chant, I began composing a chant-inspired melody on my hammered dulcimer. While I was satisfied with this sketch, it wasn’t a complete composition. Several years later, I reimagined the piece with a much faster tempo, four contrasting sections, and additional instruments. This is a notable departure from the original inspiration, isn’t it?
“Voyager’s Tale” was super fun music to create, and I hope you have a fun, adventure-filled listen. And...there might be a few plot twists along the way. Personally, I imagine a medieval voyage to distant lands. Where does the music transport you?

Another outstanding composition and arrangement. As a musician (okay, as a bass player) I think a lot of people who listen to a song don't fully appreciate the importance of not only the writing of the various parts, but the selection of the instrumentation, and how one small change can entirely alter the feel of a piece. You selections are always spot on, and the other players execute flawlessly. Such a joy to listen to, especially with the headphones on. (What's the difference between a bass player and a large pizza? A large pizza can feed a family of 4! lol)

As someone who has never so much as played Happy Birthday on a child's keyboard before, is the Hammered Dulcimer something that seems... out of my reach? I've been in love with the instrument ever since I first heard it, and finding your channel has only strengthened my want to learn it.
@JoshuaMessick
@JoshuaMessick 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you!! That's special to hear. The beautiful thing about the hammered dulcimer is it's easy to learn and play beginner music on. I'm not going to lie, advanced music can be pretty tough ... but, it's still a ton of fun to play at a beginner level. There's also plenty of teaching resources and a strong support community designed for beginners. If you're interested in owning a hammered dulcimer, I sell them. Here is the one I'd recommend: joshuamessick.com/product/master-works-new-pioneer-package/

Wow... the song is just as beautiful as all the others, and the cello just makes it. Also, I love the corner accents and sound hole covers on your instrument. What model are you using? Are they custom from Masterworks? I'd like to get myself a dulcimer in the near future, and although not cheap, I could never forgive myself if I compromised richness of sound for a lower price point.
