All they need to do is balance the parry system, it will unlock so much combat potential. Look at Star Wars bf2 for example. Their parry system was initially a glitch but it adds so much to the game.

The hard thing to counter is that the grappling hook stuns you long enough to get barrage by bullets. Any tips?

Jump into the enemy vanguard if you're stunned. Or pay attention to the cover/walls around you to avoid the reeling in animation. He can only stun you if you get behind cover and he can't reel himself in

I LOVED the multiplayer for Gears of War and maybe it’s the 3rd-person perspective and big chunky armor that is bringing back those great memories.. I don’t know! The online is fun though! Pretty sure the devs can flesh this out a lot more too 👀

For vanguard I’m using knife for the speed after a grenade toss + grapple kick BUT.. the chain sword seems to have a little more reach and damage output. I honestly think this class was meant to be played mid to far range from unpredictable directions, with the occasional grapple attack to end your ambush attack. This class is almost instantly dead up close without proper support

Any tips on melee fights? Blocking is kind of weird and if sometimes they mix it up with a charged heavy it seems like dodges dont have i frames

Don't block, dodge instead. Blocking isn't that good atm on pvp. Use the chains word or power sword.

Play PvP, do good, and win some matches will help you progress a lot as a new player. Or just play at your own pace. There are some PvE operations that you can play with your friends in order to level up your gears and unlock some new stuff. The point is to have some fun mate, no need to rush anything.
