Hello Dr. VStrom, this bag seems quite huge. I don't use any tank bags for now but I think 3- 5 liter tank bag would be my maximum volume.

Hey Dr. Vstrom. Sorry for the off-topic. I finally got my 2024 V-Strom 800 Touring and have a couple of questions for you: (1) would you recommend an OEM or aftermarket central stand? This is an absolute must for cleaning and lubing the chain; (2) in your earlier video you recommended using kerosene for cleaning the chain. I read that kerosene was recommended in VStrom 650 manual as one of the cleaning solutions, but starting in 2017 (if my memory serves me well) the manual says that kerosene should not be used and one needs to use a sealed chain cleaner instead. That's what I have been doing with my 650 but I do not like this option very much because: (a) it ain't cheap; (b) using an aerosol sprayer creates a huge mess all around the bike. I really liked your technique of using a brush... Please, let me know what you think. Cheers!

Hello my friend. Congrats on the 800. Great bike. I am too very excited for this motorcycle and will upload many videos on the following weeks to come. Now for the center stand, depending on the price that you can get, I recommend either an OEM or Hepco Becker center stand. The reason is that I have used both and the quality is good regrading the springs and how well these secure the motorcycle. I think I m gonna get the hepco if I can get it cheaper. Now regarding Kerosene, my 650 was also a 2017 and I used kerosene to clean with no problems for manyyyyy years. My Vstrom had never any o-ring issue at all. None. So go ahead and use kerosene as long as you was it out afterwards just with plain water and NO pressure. Ride safe :)

I sent you another message yesterday but it looks like it has been deleted somehow, lol. No biggie, nothing terribly important. I just said that I was not able to find a center stand from Hepco Becker available in the US. The OEM center stand is available on eBay for $260. It is slightly more expensive at a dealership - $290 or so if my memory serves me well. Which is very expensive in my opinion but what is cheap these days? I found one supplier who sells them for around $200 but it has a lot of negative reviews so I will not buy from them.

The hepco & Becker will be released in 2 weeks. But whatever you get do NOT get a cheap solution. If the center stanbd folds and the bike falls down its gonna cost much more

Sure, no one can afford cheap things, lol. Those stands from a cheaper supplier that cost ~$200 that I mentioned earlier are also (supposedly) OEM. It's just the supplier itself is not very reliable and slow to ship. By the way, when I installed a center stand on my 650 it was a real pain in the ass to stretch and hook up those 2 springs. It took some time and a lot of curse words, lol.

@@DrVstrom Oh yeah, one more thing I wanted to ask. Do you find the stock mirrors tall enough for you? When I test rode the bike I had to lean more forward to use the mirrors.

Hey Dr. VStrom, it finally stopped raining on a daily basis, and I took my V-Strom 800 for a ride. My engine coolant indicator stayed on all the time and was showing the temperature of 185 F (85C) when riding and it was rising when stopping. The air temperature was pretty cool, like 24C or something like that. Is this normal? The manual says this indicator only comes on when the temperature is considered high, but also says that up to 230F (if my memory serves me well) the temperature is considered to be normal. Can you comment on that? Thanks a lot!

Hello, yes. 85, 86 degrees is the normal temperature when moving irrespective of the temperature outside in logical range. When you stop , or slow down in the city, the temperature will rise and the ventilator fan will kick at 102 approx. Dont worry, all is normal especially for new euro 5 bikes that work this way for emissions.

Hallo Dr.V I have a question. My v strom 650 2023 (3500km) have massive vibrations at 6000prm, exactly at 6000. No matter wich gear, I tested at 3,4,5,6. Always the same,peak vibrations. I had the first version v strom 650, can not remember that strong vibrations. Can you confirm stronger getting vibrations at 6000 or should I go to my dealer ? Thank you.

No I did not experience that. What are the symptoms? How soon? if you travel, after about 1 hour your right hand might get numb a bit. Other than that I did not have any issue or noise.

Is the bag likely to scratch the tank?

Well, I dont believe that the tank ring will allow this to happen. You will have to really not care and be really in a hurry to put it. So no. If you still worry you can buy a protective sticker.
