It's a great little sim, dip into it every once in a while, VR is a pain in the arse to produce content with though! Lots of audio clean up, difficult recording setup, thankfully Vtol VR has a smoothed headtracking spectator camera!

@@RedKiteRender The S-cam is amazing, not only for recording but also have a stabilized view if someone is watching on your monitor. I love the quality of life features and mods. The Media Player mod for example which syncd the already existing MP3 feature (Back left console on all of the aircraft iirc) to KZbin, Spotify etc so you don't have to go out of VR to lower the music or skip a song. Overall it is just so much more immersive.

Comparing it to Microprose and 90s sims is so accurate. It's exactly what it is, and I kinda love it. Hardcore sims can get to be more than I really want to deal with a lot of the time. How everything is laid out for hands to touch, no shortcut buttons or anything, that really makes this game something special. Anyone can learn it because it's just super intuitive and not hidden behind a thousand keyboard shortcuts. Also love the minimalistic art style of the planes. Looks so clean in VR.

Back in the 8-bit and 16-bit days, Microprose used to put all controls around the perimeter keys of the keyboard, and every game included a cut-out keyboard overlay with every single control clearly labelled. I miss that simplicity.

Yup i already changed the sensitivity my problem is properly trimming the chopper. For the life of me i cannot get it to just hover. If someone can do a proper trim video that would be awesome. I can pretty much get it flying straight and level no hand on stick but trying to just get it to hover in place yeah i am finding that very hard. DCS is a worse game experience to VTOL, it’s a lot less immersive due to a lack of physical input. Sure it’s a more realistic sim, but unless you are some sort of IRL fighter pilot, realism is actually a bad thing, makes things unnecessarily painful.

@nog eagor I'm a fanboy of aviation and a great admire of pilots who have the ability to multitask in stressful situations. Civilian as well as fighter pilots. I find them impressive🙂 The people who built these aircrafts and their knowledge on things I'd never be able to figure out are to me, profoundly impressive 😂 I very much get your point in terms of realism. However, after i bought myself a PC and got introduced to simulations such as Squad and EFT, I'm now hooked on realistic games. It's actually pretty wierd how these type of games have had such of an impact on me. At the same time, one can learn a lot of interesting things and I'm able to put my brain to the test. Simulation games can most certainly be a painful experience but the rewards coming from all of the grinding and research along the way are to me, priceless👍

the AH-94 is really neat, I just wish it had a PNVS turret in addition to the FLIR it has now so you don't sacrifice the thermal HMD overlay when you need to target something with the FLIR. Also yeah the lack of physical controls is a big pain in the ass. Not only is it more difficult to control than it really ought to be, I find I get tired a lot faster playing VTOL VR than I would in something like DCS, just because I'm having to very precisely hold my VR controllers in a specific place and rotation instead of just being able to push or pull on a physical controller.

Its looks makes it feel more arcadey than it is. It goes pretty in depth. RCS is actually modelled better than in DCS afaik (pretty important for the F-45, which is the F-35 lookalike) so combat tactics definitely do apply. For GPS weapons you will need to set GPS target points, and you can set a path for cruise missiles. Also the dev has a video showing IR missile mechanics and flares, which makes me think is is modelled more accurately than just the x chance of defeating a missile per flare. Instead the flare actually seems to go for the average hottest point.

Hey I was wondering because I haven't full watched the video yet, nor have I been able to find anything online, but does anyone know how to deploy flares and chaff on the new helicopter? neither me (pilot) or my friend (copilot) could figure out how to. I have the flare and chaff switches on, but we couldn't find the button to launch them. I don't know if it explains that or not in this video

one thing i REALLY hate about the AH-94 is theres no NVG failover for whoever doesn't have access to the camera currently, i was running a mission on a random server and it made it extremely hard to pilot while my front seater set and fired weapons, we'd have to trade off and each time we did whoever lost the camera was basically blind. the rest of the bird is fantastic and i love it

@@currololo The developer said in the FAQ: I don't think that there's a way to provide the level of interaction that I'm aiming for while using a HOTAS, especially with all of the cockpit systems like the MFDs and touch screens. There is a mod for it. From my understanding, it works well enough, though I've not used it personally. You are stuck memorizing keybinds if you don't have enough buttons, though. Some aircraft, like the F-45 in particular, wouldn't translate well to. At some point I'll set up a magnetic base control setup to just combine best of both worlds, more consistent axis inputs of HOTAS lacking tracking ring issues, finger controls of VR controllers.

@@charlies40556 Enough people have found physical inputs desirable that they made a mod for it. It add HOTAS into the game, buuuuut you need enough buttons to map *every* function, and there are quite a few (or you have to use both). You can move the virtual controls (to some extent), but it doesn't entirely fix the lack of spring tension or other physical feedback, or lack of precise tracking on the quest 2 in particular. The F45's throttle also can't be moved, which is a pain because it loves to loose tracking when I'm trying to catch a wire. And the AN-94's love of going nuts when I'm trying to hover and loose tracking while looking left....

@Patridge a child could use the controllers, but a child wouldn't likely be, I dunno, trying to actually USE the tail-hook... Or hover the helicopter.... Both of which lack of physical controls make far harder than they should be. I don't mind the limited buttons (aside from wishing I had more buttons on my Q2 controllers in general), but the axis input is less precise then the T16000's I threw in the trash for being worn out.

The whole point was to use the VR controllers you already had to avoid the pile of keybinds you have in Flight Sims. or mouse-clicking. However from a precision/consistency standpoint it leaves a lot to be desired. It's not TOO bad when flying fixed-wing most of the time, but hovering, the Helo in general, and carrier landings make me want to pull my hair out.
